• There’s a particular kind of joy I find in making a home. I love beautiful spaces, but I’ve never wanted ours to look like a page from a magazine or a Pinterest board.

What I care about more is how a home helps us thrive: the way the light falls, where we gather, and where we slip away to be alone. That’s what I brought to my first interior project, our own home.

Almost five years on, it’s still growing with us. Pieces have moved, old things have found new lives, and the plants have quietly taken over.

Looking around now, I can see how instinctively I designed it the way I dress. Black and white softened with colour and florals. Warm wood with hints of gold. Indian pieces beside cleaner, contemporary shapes.

• This image was sitting on my phone since a playful experiment some time back..flowers in my boot!

Today, it feels different. There’s defiance in those flowers.

I want to live in a country where every eligible citizen’s right to vote is protected, and those in power are held accountable.

And I want to live in a country where women can move freely, speak freely, and expect safety and justice as a bare minimum.

Tomorrow, 8 October, there’s a gathering by @cockroachjantaparty at Freedom Park, Bengaluru, against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, followed by a “Chappal Protest” after 4 p.m., in solidarity with women journalists who have reported sexual harassment by Delhi Police. I’m hoping to join the solidarity gathering.

• The Heirloom Edit, with UBAA.

For me, an heirloom is just something you love enough to keep - and perhaps, one day, pass on.

What I loved about UBAA’s jewellery is how distinctive it is without dictating how it needs to be worn. Precious pieces that moved just as easily through a blazer, a saree, a silk shirt and everything in between.

I discovered Ahmedabad-based @ubaa.official at their Bangalore showcase alongside @uncut_byaditiamin, and was immediately drawn to their distinctive, unexpected pieces.

Hi, I’m Rachana. I’m a designer, a mother, and a woman in my forties, building a life that finally looks like mine.

I’ve spent years designing fashion accessories, and I’ve also worked in interiors. Styling clothes is how I express myself - part play, part art, and occasionally a small rebellion. And lately, I’ve been quietly working on something new for the home.

I love travelling, learning things I don’t yet know how to do, and finding room for one more plant.

• A festive outfit should give you more than one way to wear it. Otherwise, it’ll just sit in your cupboard..looking festive. 🙂

For this edit with @ganga.official_ , I styled a green Chanderi set with bold Madras checks, and a fluid yellow silk set with a Banjara-embroidered clutch, mixed-metal earrings and silver cuffs.

Then I took the yellow kurta out of its set and gave it a completely different life over a saree - because a beautiful outfit can be the beginning of an idea, not the end.
