C’etait un rendez-vous. To the last race of the season. The destination was not the Sacre Coeur, but brick pavement was still involved. The week end started well with good pace during qualifications, but our P3 in qualification was not transformed due to a rough Race 1 start and a collision. In spite of an upset setup, a flyer lap delivered the Pole for Race 2. The team put the car back together, giving us the chance to fight for P1 during a mostly Safety car led race with several restarts. Crossing the finish line first felt like a great end to the @porschesprintchallengena 2023 season, especially after dodging (by chance) a bullet in the last lap, that took the form of a lose white car..😅 It was a fun year with great competitors, sponsors and organization. Special thanks to and sharing this trophy with #noigcarlos, @wyatt_foster70 @lil_j612 @christianbreezley @kaizenautosport … for just being the best. It was fun. A 35min + 1 lap race is a @porschesprintchallengena race, but for us and beyond everything, it’s a human adventure. First of all, the event lasts 3 days, on top of 2 test days the week before. This to run 2 + 1 races. This is a lot of work for the team, relentlessly trying to find the perfect setup for the car, replacing parts, fixing issues, in conditions that would probably make a camel 🐪 blush: 110F air temp., that, we had not experienced before. During the races, the cabin temperature oscillated between 150 and 160F. Probably the toughest racing we’ve done so far. Luckily, we have the best team and band of people. The mood of everybody stayed at its peak in spite of the conditions, which I am certain contributed to our good overall performance. This week end the guys cracked the best jokes, we laughed like never before, witnessed constant technical brio from our mechanics and engineer: what a treat!On the less lucky side, we had to retire of race 2 and 3 while ranking P4 (qualifying P2 and P5) and in the rhythm. Front right brake failure from turn 1 of race 2 (we pushed until the car became uncontrollable), and gear box + oil overheat mid race two, ultimately leading to a loss of power of 50%. (Half the cars could not finish race 3).We also leave Texas with a good performance during race one, Podium for P3!!! Pretty disputed race with a strong contact from a competitor in turn 16 who maybe got desperate, or was that the heat?! … Luckily the damages were cosmetic only and we were able to cross the finish line. All week end the Porsche Junior drivers put on a great show @nickma1oy @paulbocusejr @chloechambersracing, giving us the hard time we were looking for to keep building our race craft. Bravo and thanks to them. First Win in the @porschesprintchallengena for our second participation to the series!Qualified P3 and P2 and finished P1 and P3. Many young talents and top drivers battling for a spot in the big leagues. Bravo to them. Being at our home track @virnow makes the win feel even more special. It certainly gave us an edge (but we were not the only ones at home this week end ;)The race was also an opportunity to reset our performance goals: COTA and Indianapolis later this year will be opportunities to demonstrate that. > The team did amazing delivering a perfect car> A gangsta interviewee was heralded. #dontmesswithcarlos> Victory beer was tasted> A birthday was celebratedGreat memories were created. Much race craft was gained past week end @roadatlanta :)Qualifying P2, we finished the races P3, P1 and P1. We can thank the constantly changing weather for making track conditions evolve quick (damp, dry, upcoming storms…) allowing us to adjust to various grip levels, temperature, car setup, ….While already P1, a massive oil leak from another competitor during the enduro race pushed us behind the safety car for one slow lap before pitting. The team masterfully executed our pit stop, making up for the loss of time and allowing @wyatt_foster70 to come out P1 and increase our lead advantage - not that he needed that to claim P1 but 25min under pace car creates limitations…!Overall a fun and successful week end.
