Since this seems to be about the only thing I post, please enjoy 1:45 of Radar giving Matt shit about his food. He’s turned her into an absolute menace in her old age, zero manners anymore.

Earlier she punched him in the face really hard because he took too long to give her a piece of sausage 🤣 taken in Lacombe, Alberta by @radarhound

I had the audacity to mix her antibiotic with wet food she usually likes. It was so offensive that she insisted on getting out of the kennel to lay on the blankets I had been laying on instead. by @radarhound

We are home. So now I can panic about making sure I’m doing care correctly and helping her heal properly. 😰 by @radarhound

Our beautiful baby girl is out of surgery and everything went well. They’re keeping her overnight so she’ll get to come home as a tripod tomorrow. I know it’s going to be a bit of a recovery process, but I think she’ll feel much better once she gets the balance figured out.

We can go see her tonight for a little bit.

Thanks for all the good vibes and thinking of us! ❤️ by @radarhound

Radar is probably in surgery or going into surgery shortly. @mattytheframingdaddy called me at 2:30 on Monday and said she was bleeding like crazy. Luckily I was at a point where I could leave work easily so he picked me up and we rushed into the emergency vet. They wrapped it really well and got the bleeding slowed down and then they’ve kept her there since. They were hoping to do surgery Monday night, but the nature of triage and emergency care means she got bumped a few times, which is ok because it means she was stable enough to be delayed a bit. We saw her for awhile yesterday, and hopefully again today. Crossing my fingers and toes and everything for good results.

She had all the bloodwork and Xrays done at her regular vet last week to prep for surgery, so at least we already knew everything was good and she’s healthy and strong.

They may keep her for up to 24 hours after surgery depending how she comes out of it, or they may send her home today. I guess we’ll see.

I’m scared, but hopeful. And extremely grateful Matt was home when it started bleeding again and was able to immediately load her up, call ahead to the vet, and get us there safely, although there were some questionable driving maneuvers on the way. taken in Cedarwood Veterinary & Animal Emergency Hospital by @radarhound

UPDATE: they were able to get the bleeding slowed down and they bandaged it quite well. I’m supposed to pick up a supplement that should help it clot so we can hopefully get through September/October before we have to do the surgery. Thank goodness for no emergency surgery! Thank you all for thinking of us ❤️

Unfortunately we’re sitting at the emergency vet. Radar had her regular checkup a couple weeks ago and we got a quote to do amputation surgery on her left back leg to remove the tumor. The tumor has gotten a lot bigger and has been starting to cause her some pain because of the weight and where it is.

We were hoping to wait until I’m done work for the season to do the surgery, but about 10 days ago she scratched it or it just ulcerated on its own, I’m not sure. In the last two days the wound has gotten bigger and bleeding a lot more. I had to change bandage 2 days in a row and the one I did last night didn’t even get us 12 hours. And we feel like the tumor itself has gotten bigger in the last two days.

I guess we’ll see what happens. Ideally we’d get the bleeding stopped and book surgery with our regular vet, but who knows now, I guess.

Wish us luck. ❤️ by @radarhound

The goblin stepbrothers name is Bear. He is 1 year and 9 months old. As far as Radar is concerned every single thing about his existence is wrong and he’s doing every part of living wrong as well. It’s probably a good thing he’s seems to be short a few brain cells because he doesn’t seem to have realized that when shes yelling at him it’s not nice words 🤣 by @radarhound

Might have gotten a little bit spoiled for the 10th birthday yesterday! The bestest thing is this super ultra extra plushy blanket that grandma made. And grandma says that no one else is allowed to share, it’s just for Radar, not even people 😂 by @radarhound

Made it home from surgery well. Got a pretty long bandage on. Pretty much slept for the rest of the day. Happily had some kibble and then half as much as usual cooked supper. So far everything has stayed down, so that’s good. We’re in bed now, and she did use the makeshift stairs I made to get up. Of course then she went up and down them like 4 more times when I just wanted her to stay in bed 🤦🏻‍♀️. Fortunately my bed is pretty low, so it’s not much of a jump.
Bandage stays on until Saturday, stitches come out in 14 days, so Boxing Day. We’ll be in Terrace then, so hopefully my brother’s vet will be amenable to removing the stitches for us. taken in Lacombe, Alberta by @radarhound

So the surgery attempt did not go as planned. During surgery prep her heart rate went really low on the opioid they used, and then it took longer than it should have for her to respond to the reversal medication.

So they want to rebook and try again another day with a different opioid. They have her in recovery monitoring now and they think I should be able to pick her up around noon. taken in Lacombe, Alberta by @radarhound
