Mohiniyattam guru Nirmala Paniker being honoured with the Shadkala Govinda Marar Puraskaram at a ceremony organised by the Shadkala Govindamarar Smaraka Kalasamithy. The award was presented to her by Higher Education Minister R. Bindu in recognition of her immense contributions to the art form. It was a privilege for me to offer a felicitation speech on the occasion and share my admiration for her pioneering work.

Through years of intense research, Guru Nirmala Paniker has revived the desi repertoire of Mohiniyattam, bringing back forgotten items such as Easal, Poli, Chandanam and Mookuthi, which once formed part of the traditional performance vocabulary but had disappeared from the modern stage. by @radhikaktp
