The deeper we dig, the more questions we have about Project 928… 🕵️‍♂️

With the intake manifold off, we decided to inspect the "new" parts the seller claimed were installed. The results? Missing bearings, original sensors, and auction receipts that just aren't adding up.

We finally found the smoking gun! 💨

After replacing the MAP and TEMP2 sensors on Project 928, that rough idle just wouldn't quit. A quick carb cleaner test pointed us straight to a major vacuum leak hiding under the intake. So... the intake had to come off! 🔧

After battling those infamous fuel injector clips, labeling endless vacuum lines, and wrestling to disconnect the TPS sensor, we finally got the manifold pulled. The culprit? A massive, dirt-caked split in the idle control valve tube that’s clearly been sucking unmetered air for a long time.

While we were in there, we took the opportunity to clean up some notoriously hard-to-reach engine grounds. We also discovered the car is still running the original single-pintle injectors, which means it's time for a 4-hole upgrade from Roger at 928!
