Started from the bottom, now he’s read a bazillion books before kindergarten! 💖 Our IT guy, Tom, picked Charles name from thousands of kid entries for the grand prize. A decade? A DECADE?? A decade. I’m not quite sure how 10 years have passed without you; so much has changed — we have all changed. Would you recognize us? ♥️ No, she was not always laughing and joking (no one knew how to make me rage like she did and I may have **gently** hit her with a bat after softball practice when I was 11 😬), but most of the time it was straight antics 😆 - Dad called her the little imp. To know her was to laugh with her. #kim4ever taken in Lantana, Florida by @radlibrarian

I wrote a long caption and lost it. But basically it was about the magic of bookstores and libraries in distant old towns. Wandering around and being “called” to a book. My fave was @phoenixbooksvt - bustling with bookish customers, great selection, and super kind staff. You don’t get that kind of experience and community from Amazon or online. Come out to bookstores and libraries! #shoplocal #bookstores #librariesofinstagram #burlington #vermont taken in Burlington, Vermont by @radlibrarian

Just spreading the gospel — the @lantanalibrary is TEA 😆 These smiling faces and so many others bring me more joy than I could’ve ever imagined. Our community really is a little slice of paradise. 💜 Let me put my hands on you 😜
I love science and logic, but guess what, I also love spirit and the unknown. Religious and spirituality seeker since 7 yrs old. Many rivers, some with man made dams and diversions. 💫 Level 1 and 2 Reiki immersion (camp?!) at @arcanayogastudio We might’ve walked up and down Northwood and approached strangers - scary AF and out of my comfort zone by a mile, but a hilarious highlight of the weekend. 🎨 Janet Echelman installation to illustrate some of the vibes from this weekend. @desert_haus_ , too - a Northwood theme! #itme #westpalmbeach #authenticity #reiki #community taken in Arcana Yoga by @radlibrarian

Friends, I am sorry to bombard you with political posts, but this is dire for libraries and most other services many rely upon. Under the new proposed property tax elimination plan, Lantana and cities like it (and rural red counties) would lose a huge chunk of their revenue, as 60% or more of it is tied to homes assessed at 250,000 or less (not market value, assessed value). They say there will be carve outs, but the amendments for that failed. The amendment for a Desantis backed bail out pot failed, as well, so no backup help. That means that PD, Fire, Roads, etc. will be cut — they will survive as a core service, but they will be drastically cut. Libraries, parks, family events, literacy tutoring, senior centers and programs, lifeguards, median beautification, park improvements, etc. will all be cut and most likely, outright eliminated to try to make up for shortfalls for PD, FD, roads, etc., except our little library doesn’t have much to begin with. Business will have taxes raised on them, renters will have rents raised to pay for the owner’s raised taxes (second homes, often income properties, will have taxes raised). Not only does the bill aim to eliminate property taxes, but it also tells municipalities what they CAN spend money on. Why should Tallahassee tell us what our unique communities can spend money on? What happened to running for office to make change? Libraries are not an allowable expense under this amendment that you will vote on in November. SO HEY! LET’S TALK!! If you have questions, comment here or message me privately and I will answer in truth - no name calling or attitude — just an attempt to foster a conversation about what this amendment will really do in our communities. Many don’t understand the difference between their county taxes and municipal taxes. Lantana, for example, is a fiscally conservative town, staff wears multiple hats to save taxpayers money, and we don’t have extravagant expenses. I can write so much more about how it will affect our communities, but I want to hear what you are thinking. #palmbeachcounty #librariesofinstagram #propertytax #vote #savefloridalibraries taken in Palm Beach, Florida by @radlibrarian
