Before anything else, thank you.

Thank you for showing up. Thank you for believing in something bigger than this moment. Thank you for pouring your hearts into Los Angeles and our dream of a city that centers working people, first and foremost.

Since the beginning, our campaign had three goals: expand the electorate vote in Los Angeles, bring hope to this city that has experienced trauma after trauma, and build a coalition of regular Angelenos whose power reaches beyond one election. And we — you — did exactly that.

For months, we walked the streets of Los Angeles together. We knocked on doors in the heat, stood on corners before sunrise, made calls late into the night, and carried conversations into every neighborhood of this city. We met people where they were, with their hopes, frustrations, dreams, fears, and determination to build a better future. And we did this with limited resources, countless obstacles, and a truly grassroots, underdog campaign unlike anything LA has seen in decades. I have walked all over our city, hearing stories about how our city can be so much more for our people — especially people whose voices have gone ignored for years.

And in doing so, I was reminded of something powerful:

Los Angeles is worth fighting for. Not because it is perfect, but because it is ours.

Throughout this journey, one thing has been crystal clear: that Los Angeles is ready for real change — true transformation from a system run by the powerful few, for the benefit of the wealthy few. A truly democratic Los Angeles is one where the powers that shape the lives and futures of our neighbors includes the voices and perspectives of those neighbors, too. Power should belong to the people of Los Angeles.

This fight isn’t over yet. While the end of the primary election cycle is here, this is also just the beginning of a new movement that’s taken shape in our city, because of you.

Thank you for being here, Los Angeles is better because of you.

It’s been a hard few years for my Jewish brothers and sisters who have taught me so much about my own faith and Tikkun olam- how to repair this world. This evening, I broke bread and drank libations with a dear sister who I love and reflected on the new year.
