The patriarchy has us celebrating regular parent behavior with our fathers and demonizing regular parent mistakes with our mothers. The father's mistakes are explainable, while the mother's mistakes are a character assassination that she can never shake. The mother wound cuts far deeper than the father wound. I know first hand because my mother always got blamed for being human, while my father was celebrated for navigating his humanity. Mothers don't get to be human, but have to accept the humanity of ever single person around her. They also show their children the ways in which people act when hurting, and how to have empathy and care, while rarely getting the same consideration. And mothers end up dying never quite feeling like they did enough, while helping everyone else feel like they are enough.

*I'm reading this book and these are some thoughts.

*I know there are terrible mothers out there and am not taking away the feelings surrounding that. Just the extreme unbalanced scales that the patriarchy provides. by @raemorisette

A story.
You know I love a story.
A man I would see almost daily was KIDNAPPED by ice the first week of January 2026.
Fast forward to today, when suddenly he was standing in front of me.
He was taken to Whipple.
The next day flown to Texas.
For weeks was in shackles, sometimes to other humans. They would have to wash their clothes...the ones the were KIDNAPPED in, in the sinks. Their bodies, the same.
He was then sent to New Mexico. Where he would get 1 phone call a week for a total of 2 minutes.
Everytime someone in the prison would get close to being freed, they would get moved somewhere else. This is a system design to make it easier for lawyers and loved ones to "lose track" of their people. First the lawyers would have to fight to get their clients to stay put. Then they could fight for their freedom.
Anyway this guy....a legal citizen of the United States. A father and a husband. A contributing member of society, since I know how much you lazy folks love bringing up what people "contribute" to society, regardless of what you add....or in most cases, subtract.
He was freed 8/14. That's a lot of right being violated for 7 plus months.
He's skinny. His dark circles under his eyes have dark circles. There is an energy about him that is unsettled and sad.
This is a human being.

I took this photo in 2016 at some Kendra school funtion. I had no idea who this child was. But I remember as soon as I saw her I started snapping photos. I remember thinking how beautiful she was. Fast forward to a bit later when @craigs_sonbutnotascool spent the ENTIRE ride home from a show choir competition talking about her. And then later to them being a couple. Young love can be so sweet. But when you grow and still choose eachother....you know you have something special. Congratulations on your engagement, to my favorite Son and to @ashley.fettig. I love you both to the moon and back! by @raemorisette

20 years is a long time. Life moves. Firsts are had. Children grow into adults. People leave. Mistakes are made. Love grows. Hearts break.
Memories are made and forgotten.
20 years is a long time to grieve the same thing.
20 years is a long time to not have your dad.
I think of you when:
I cook
I read
I hug my children
I see my grandchildren
Someone says the word Hockey
When I'm in Michigan
When someone pisses me off while driving
When someone talks about golf
When something wonderful happens
When I witness a sunrise
When the wind blows
When the world brings me to tears

My mother said the other day "He should be here". I miss you, but it would be selfish to wish you here. Life was cruel. Your mind played tricks on you. Your self-sabotage game was on point. People left. Your sadness was put to bed so you could fly free.

You haven't missed a moment.
I see you in Cody's eyes. I hear you in Keara's voice. Your laugh lives inside of Kendra Faye. And your passion...that shit flows in Maya's veins.

When people help you remember that you don't have to accept. If people are pouring into you, and they are wasting their time, you can let them know. I'm seeing how folks move around eachother and the fake front/talk behind the scenes go. Watching you all is disgusting. The world is falling apart. Folks are getting stolen from their homes. Non yt people are still getting abused and mistreated. The world is letting us all know that the hatred for women will stand the test of times. And y'all want to be mean girls. Ew. by @raemorisette

Being a Pisces, I love the water.
