Tonight 10pm on @noodsradio i'll be exploring music’s relationship with the concept of time. As we start the new year and see the days getting lighter, with the shortest now in our rearview, time feels like a vivid theme. Returning from a brief pause to a fresh start, fresh hope, new calendar, new intentions, start working on that thing you didn't wanna touch in December.

For a while now Ive been setting aside records that, in one way or another, touch on the various ideas that come up around time; posing questions and thoughts on our memories of the past, visions of the future, observing the gradual or dramatic rate of changes that unfold in front of us, or carving out stillness, bringing clarity to our blurred vision as we rush through each day. Time is a fundamental, unstoppable and irreversible feature of our existence, and we seem to be powerless against its direction of travel, but we can alter the way we use it, and how we perceive it.

To be reminded that everything passes, to steady our minds among chaos, or to see each moment as a new beginning can be a powerful thing. So tonight i'll be sharing some of my favourite records that touch on time's many qualities, as we see in 2026 and decide how we're gonna paint it

Graffiti appreciation post for Kace. Graff has always been valued by various factors and to different degrees depending on who you talk to. To name a few, style is the most obvious one. Then theres how "up" they are, which many people in that world will probably say is what matters most.

Theres also a lot to be said for the spots theyre reaching, which is fairly unique to graffiti as an art form. It can inspire awe in ways that no other creative practices can touch on. The amount of times ive stared up at a roof top, or a bridge and wondered how they got there. 10Foot once summed it up nicely in an interview as exemplifying "the extremity of control".

I had to post some of the pieces ive been seeing around Bristol from Kace, who - for me - is ticking a lot of those boxes. Nice lettering and fills, a lot of new pieces cropping up around Bristol, and reaching railway bridges and half-built walls before the last bricks have even been laid 😆🔥

Bandcamp friday. I musta played Love Dub and the refix off this @thecoolyg EP countless times over the years. Totally slept on Narst until now, but it came up in a mix I heard last week and it still speaks to life in 2024 as much as anything coming out these days.
One shame about downloads is we don't really see that much of the artwork once we've bought the tune. I miss that about vinyl. But coming back to that EP today on bandcamp took my down memory lane. The artwork is a vibrant snapshot of London, with a backdrop of full-colour dubs from two DDS dons Fume and @zombylondon. If I had to guess I'd say somewhere in Lambeth maybe?

Anyway - nice mix of some older and newer bits by @ragdy_
