3 Generations, 2026
inkjet print on Hahnemühle Photo Rag, 40 x 40 cm, goose down feathers, glue, 40 x 30 x 40 cm

Photographs and object from a pillow that has been passed down through several generations in my family until it reached me.
Imprints from decades of sleep, dreams, nightmares, love, illness, rest, exhaustion, bodily odors, body and subconscious….

Combined with the down feathers from the pillow, the installation explores how much history can be inscribed into the material and refuses to be positioned anywhere between beauty and revulsion, bodily fluids and a Byzantine ceiling fresco.

Fotografien und Objekt aus einem Kissens, das über mehrere Generationen in meiner Familie bis zu mir weitergegeben wurde.
Abdrücke aus Jahrzehnten von Schlaf, Traum, Albtraum, Liebe, Krankheit, Erholung, Erschöpfung, Ausdünstung, Körper, Unterbewusstes….

Kombiniert mit den aus dem Kissen stammenden Daunenfedern fragt die Installation danach wie viel Geschichte sich ins Material einschreiben kann und verweigert die Positionierung zwischen Schönheit und Ekel, Körperflüssigkeit und byzantinischem Deckenfresco

LATTE XY @galerieimmarstall Ahrensburg

Einen Monat nach der Finissage von Latte XY in der Galerie im Marstall in Ahrensburg sortiere ich immer noch die Fotos.
Hier aber schonmal ein Eindruck der Reise, die die neuste Arbeit der Ausstellung hinter sich gebracht hat:
Shield (Symbole& Rituale (Gründungsmythos)), 2026

Zwei Tage vor Ausstellungsaufbau konnte ich mit Umweg über den Landesbetrieb Straßen, Brücken und Gewässer und der Erlaubnis des Altonaer Wegewartes (tolle Namen + Danke!) dieses Objekt aus dem Lessingtunnel in Hamburg abtransportieren.
In der Ausstellung fungierte es als Verwandtschaft und Gegenpol zu den Keramiken und Folien.
Für mich ist es außerdem eine Aktualisierung meines Bundesadlers

A month after the closing of Latte XY, I’m still sorting through the photos.
But here’s a glimpse of the journey the exhibition’s latest work has taken:
Shield (Symbols & Rituals (Foundation Myth)), 2026
Two days before setup, I was able to transport the piece out of the Lessing tunnel in Hamburg.
In the exhibition, it served as a counterpoint to the ceramics and foil objects.
For me, it is also an update of my federal eagle.

✨ Finissage & Artist Talk ✨

Am Sonntag, 19. April, laden wir euch um 15 Uhr herzlich zur Finissage mit einem besonderen Gespräch ein: Die Künstlerin Rahel Bruns trifft auf Nora Sdun (Verlegerin & Publizistin) – direkt in der Ausstellung.

„Latte XY“ versteht sich als Einladung, die eigene Wahrnehmung zu hinterfragen und das vermeintlich Nebensächliche neu zu entdecken. Die Ausstellung entfaltet sich wie ein leises, offenes Gespräch zwischen Objekt, Raum und Betrachter:innen – vielschichtig, fließend und voller Zwischenräume.

Rahel Bruns arbeitet medienübergreifend zwischen Video, Installation, Skulptur, Fotografie und Druckgrafik.

Geboren 1979 in Filderstadt, lebt und arbeitet sie heute in Hamburg. Ihr Studium führte sie u. a. nach Braunschweig, Berlin und Mexiko. Ihre Arbeiten wurden international ausgestellt – von Hamburg über Prag bis Osaka und Paris.

found & WANTED richtet den Blick auf den Moment, in dem ein Werk entsteht - oder sich zeigt. Gefundene Dinge, räumliche Situationen und zufällige Eindrücke werden arrangiert, inszeniert oder direkt im Raum entwickelt. So ergibt sich ein offener Dialog darüber, wie Bedeutung entsteht und welche Formen das Gefundene annehmen kann.
Rahel Bruns (Hamburg) transformiert alltägliche Situationen durch minimale Eingriffe und installative Setzungen. Lisa Busche (Köln) untersucht Handlungsfreiheit im Zusammenspiel von Leinwand, Sprühfarbe, Klebeband und Wand. Uta Pütz (Garmisch-Partenkirchen) arbeitet skulptural und fotografisch und erforscht Leere, Abwesenheit und die Eigenständigkeit gefundener Dinge.

Wagentourette

Während ich Auto oder LKW fahre, zeichne ich. Am Steuer notiere ich, ohne aufs Blatt zu schauen, was außen und innen vorbei rauscht. Meine Kommu - nikation mit anderen VerkehrsteilnehmerInnen, Bruchstücke der aus dem Autoradio dringenden Tagespolitik, Fetzen vorbeiziehender Landschaft, Gebäude, den sich während der Fahrt mehr und mehr überlagernden Straßenverlauf. Die Unmöglichkeit des Unterfangens, ein Register von beim Autofahren (noch mehr als sonst im Leben) reizüberfluteten und flüchtigen Momenten zu erzeugen, wie der bewusst absurde Versuch, noch dem letzten Moment Kunst zu entlocken oder abzuringen, wird auf den Blättern Form.
Begegnen mir während meiner Fahrten LKWs oder Transporter mit Schichten von Dreck und darin (oft nicht intentional) entstandenen Negativzeichnungen, verfolge ich diese und fotografiere sie in wechselndem Licht und den sich ändernden Umgebungen, bis ich entweder am anderen Ende der Stadt von dem endlich parkenden Gefährt noch einige scharfe Aufnahmen machen kann oder bis das Objekt nach einer Odyssee über Land auf einer Autobahnauffahrt verschwindet. Dann versuche ich die Orientierung wiederzugewinnen und den Weg zurückzufinden. Dabei ist nicht gesagt, dass ich auf nicht von einem weiteren LKW geködert werde und in einer anderen, mir unbekannten Gegend lande.

My Communication with other road users, fragments of the day’s politics from the car radio, scraps of passing landscape, buildings, the course of the road - overlapping more and more as I drive. The deliberately absurd attempt to still elicit or wring art out of each an every last moment.
When I Como across dusty trucks or vans with layers of dirt and - often unintentionally - negative drawings created in them, I follow them, photographing them in the changing light and environment until either I get a few sharp shots of the finally parked vehicle at the other end of town or I lose it.

TRAFO is presenting a snapshot of artistic positions that come together for a few days to form an exciting community. The compilation of exhibits, each of which represents a transformation of information, energy and meaning, is a temporary transformer station in an exhibition setting. The works enter into a contemporary tension with one another.
As our society moves towards a paradigm shift that will fundamentally change our social, economic, ecological and psychological situation in the long term, this exhibition can be read as a reflection of the mood surrounding this change.

What triggers memories? A scent, a sound, a taste? Or is it rather a shape, a texture, a reflection that awakens buried memories?
To each his own madeleine.

For conceptual artist Rahel Bruns, seemingly mundane objects carry fragments of life within them—a torn piece of plastic packaging is a silent container of memory. Things preserve the invisible traces of gestures, voices, moments in their material. She collects, reworks, and brings new life to found objects that she finds beautiful and valuable, but which often escape our gaze. In this way, memories nestle in things, ready to be reborn at the slightest glance.
From rational language to sensual, concentrated memory, we find in the work a littlle more action, Bibles from her family that she glues, presses, dries, and processes like wood, page by page.

Katrin Jakobsen is a photographer. Her visual thinking seeks the trace of a moment, a glance, the fleeting presence of a rediscovered moment; the memory that circulates between these silent things and the nature that surrounds them: a tree in the light, a shadow on the ground, a sight that slowly fades away.
She enlarges her souvenir photos on fabric remnants she has taken from family drawers. In doing so, she uses an old-fashioned film technique that produces rather random results and many welcome “mistakes.”
