An incredible dance instructor goes beyond coordinating choreography and teaching technique. They begin from within: instilling confidence, positivity and motivation into their dancers’ mindsets. ❣️ As we dive deeper into the choreography season, our in-house choreographer Ms. @rahila.n reminds our Junior Company team the power of showing yourself grace & being your biggest hype-wo(man)! 📣 THESE are the moments we create at K. Monique’s Studio of Dance; ones students will take with them outside our studio walls. Thank you, Ms. Rahila for going above and beyond the dance floor. 🫶 _____________________________ #danceinstructor #dancestudio #fyp #motivation #dancer taken in K Moniques Studio of Dance by @rahila.n

With a National Championship score of 295.9 out of 300 points, we present to you: Somebody That I Used To Know 🪑 Deep-diving more into the inner workings of this piece is Choreographer & KMSOD Instructor @rahila.n: “Somebody That I Used to Know” speaks to something much deeper than a single relationship. It’s about the feeling of being trapped in any part of life that no longer fits: a version of yourself, a routine, a mindset, or a place where you feel like you’ve stopped growing. Sometimes we stay stuck because it feels safer than the unknown. But deep down, we know we’ve outgrown it. This piece reflects that struggle; the weight of staying, the fear of leaving, and ultimately, the strength it takes to let go. It’s about recognizing that you don’t have to stay where you feel small. You’re allowed to evolve. You’re allowed to walk away from anything that no longer serves who you’re becoming. The dance tells a story of personal transformation. It explores how we can become entangled in parts of life that once felt familiar, whether it’s a belief, a routine, a path we thought we had to follow, or even who we used to be. Through movement, it expresses the frustration of feeling stuck, the inner conflict of wanting change but fearing it, and finally, the courage to break free. The message is that growth often means letting go, and while that can be painful, it’s also a necessary part of finding freedom, authenticity, and a deeper sense of self. This piece is supposed to be a reminder that it’s not just about letting go, it’s about stepping into who you’re meant to become. Life is full of chapters that shape us, challenge us, and sometimes hold us back. But every ending creates space for a new beginning. For our graduating seniors, this piece is a reminder that you are not defined by where you’ve been or who you used to be. You have the power to choose your path, to grow, and to evolve. Even when the future feels uncertain, trust that you’re capable of building something beautiful and true to who you are. You’re not just closing a chapter, you’re writing a brand new one, and it’s full of possibility.” #fortwaynedance #KMSOD #companydance #choreography taken in K Moniques Studio of Dance by @rahila.n
