Binary exploitation (often referred to as "pwning") is a specialized field of cybersecurity focused on finding and leveraging vulnerabilities in compiled, executable programs (binaries) to modify their behavior, gain shell access, or execute arbitrary code. These vulnerabilities usually arise from improper memory management, allowing attackers to corrupt memory and control the program's execution flow. by @raiinime

Tails (The Amnesic Incognito Live System) is an operating system designed for anonymous computer use by running from a USB stick or DVD, independent of the host computer's hard drive. It routes all internet connections exclusively through the Tor network and is configured to leave no digital traces after shutdown.

How Tails OS Ensures Anonymity:

1. Live System from External Media: Tails runs entirely from temporary memory (RAM) and does not use the computer's internal hard drive, which ensures no data is saved on the host machine.

2. Amnesic by Design: When you shut down Tails, all data in the RAM is wiped, effectively erasing all activity from that session unless you explicitly configure encrypted "Persistent Storage" on the USB stick.

3. Mandatory Tor Connection: All applications that connect to the internet are forced to use the Tor network (The Onion Router). This hides your IP address and physical location by routing traffic through multiple volunteer-run relays around the world, making online activity extremely difficult to trace.

4. Automatic Connection Blocking: Any non-Tor network connections are automatically blocked to prevent accidental identity leaks.

5. Pre-configured Privacy Tools: Tails comes with a suite of privacy-enhancing tools pre-installed and securely configured, including the Tor Browser (with extensions like uBlock Origin and NoScript), Thunderbird for encrypted email, OnionShare for anonymous file sharing, and KeePassXC for password management.

6. MAC Address Spoofing: Tails automatically changes your network hardware's Media Access Control (MAC) address to prevent your device from being uniquely identified and tracked on a local network. by @raiinime
