In the days of my youth, Iโ€™d curl my fingers to make paws of my hands, and pile up pillows to stand on them as I would a mountain. Then Iโ€™d howl; to the endless skies, my sea of stars, and to the moon in my heart. Till this day, I still howl, usually on full moon nights, in car rides when my voice is begging to be free, or with my cub in the sacredness of our home. He loves it so much. Together, our voices weave ancestral magick in this way. Wolf Spirit was invoked long ago and has lived within my blood since. They guide me, offering their wisdom and insight within lucid travels in the Otherworld. They have been my guardian, my keeper, my solace and reflection. It is only fitting that I finally devote a piece to them. If you were born a woman, you would be too. My story is the stories of many. My rage is the rage of generations and centuries of women across the globe. It is not unique. It is not shared for pity or the seeking of comfort. It is shared for the sheer important of bringing awareness to what happens to those born with a uterus in this world. I live my life with this grief and rage every single day and still create joy and beauty in my life regardless. Many women do. SA is but a FRACTION of the abuse women live through at the hands of men. It is a fraction that has been minimized and silenced time and time again. More women must rise. More women must speak. More must break the chains around their necks, so their rage may be held as sacred and powerful, and wielded as a sword for justice. Thereโ€™s a reason an entire system exists to oppress us.. I donโ€™t care to be digestible. I donโ€™t care to be smaller to make others comfortable. Our voices matter. โ„œ๐”ข๐”ฉ๐”ž๐”ฑ๐”ฆ๐”ฌ๐”ซ๐”ž๐”ฉ ๐”–๐”ฅ๐”ž๐”ก๐”ฌ๐”ด-๐”ด๐”ฌ๐”ฏ๐”Ž ~ This is an oversimplified expression of what this journey entails. Itโ€™s simply a relationship with the world around you. This shadow work functions by shining the light of awareness upon your own interpretation of the universe you live within. Whether it be in people, animals, experiences or the environment you move through. The way your brain perceives it all, is telling of the world youโ€™ve been handed to understand. Whether it be through environmental and familial conditioning, or through the jagged edges of lifeโ€™s harsh lessons that have left open wounds, we are always perceiving through a lens uniquely crafted throughout the years of our life. This lens is neither ugly nor beautiful. It is just a lens. We are able to remove it through the consistent practice of conscious awareness. By acknowledging when the lens is perceiving for us, rather than the soulful awareness behind our thoughts, we are then able to use our acknowledgment to dismantle the lens. The dismantling process is different for everyone and to all unique circumstances. It can be facing oneโ€™s own darkness, recognizing a sense of justice clarifying our values, or perhaps noting what has been passed down and finally questioning its truth. The layers of its complexity will vary, but the truth remains the same: the journey is within us. We may walk it curiously and open heartedly to set ourselves free of the mental constraints painting our life in colors we do not want or have not chosen for ourselves. Or we may keep it as is, content with the projections of the world and people we see. by @raindragvn
