New hats for the suitcase drum kit, a lil' test run and tomorrow towards an undisclosed location to busk my ass apart. Merry May day!

Lilkerfest's Brutal Truth Assembly! 💪🔥
feat. Dan Lilker (Anthrax, SOD, Nuclear Assault etc), long-term grinders Keijo Niinimaa & Mika Aalto (Rotten Sound) and myself behind the kit!

Thank you Örkki for making this happen, Dan for climbing the stage one more time and going nutty with us and Kaasu for curating me for this gig!

That was a night to remember. Cheers! 🤝

Suddenly figured this bass thing is actually pretty nice! 😁 I've had this bass for some time, but have only been basically just finger drumming on the strings.

Until one day we were sitting down with my buddies, going through a new song. And I had this idea in my head for a riff, and I don't know how to play any guitar etc so I just crabbed my bass and searched for the right notes and learned what I had going on in me. I think the idea was shit, but the point is, while doing that I kinda had this little moment. This shit's pretty fun! And simple enough for a bonehead like me. 🥴

And what is it about fucking drummers and bass players wearing baseball caps on stage while playing and looking cool as a cucumber!? Seriously no one else can pull that shit off! Singers wearing caps look like sports referees who got lost at the wrong venue. And remember Fyfe Eving from Therapy? wearing a fucking black leather beret and looking like a shiny Rock 'n' Roll God behind the kit? Take away the drumkit and it's like a Tom of Finland exhibition, but with bass or drums, it's like 'alright motherfu**er!' 💪

Or am I just delusional? What do you think?

Fantastic night listening to droney Pågå at a misty little local bar with my girl and my buddies Mat and Valtteri from @gravepleasures_ . Brothers Pelle and Gottfrid from Pågå both played in In Solitude. Their album 'Sister' which I absolutely adore is on a constant cycle in my playlists.

Back in the days Beastmilk and In Solitude toured together on what's now referred as a 'classic tour', but in reality had very little attendance. Looking back at it now, I would've paid a lot of money to get to see a show from that tour. Coincidentally both bands broke up after the tour.

Was nice meeting up with Pelle and Gottfrid. Real rockstars in my book.

It might be quiet now, but soon it's Summer Dying Loud 👊🔥

Funky little venue and the setup of the day with my goofy "hedelmävaaka" in the middle.

I rarely rewatch live videos from my camera roll, but I can't get keep my eyes off of these clips of Pete 'Commando' Sandoval and David Vincent hammering away Morbid Angel classics. I thought I'd never get to see Pete playing these again, so I was ecstatic to learn Dave and Pete teamed up for a tour that's headed my way to Hellsinki Metal Fest. The only show I attended that day.

David seems to age like fine wine. He sounds beefier and looks like a death metal grizzly with silver lining. Even back in Domination era Dave was a fantastic emoter and a lyrical storyteller. His outgoing character just oozed through his performance and still does, even more so. He could show dominance in just three words and just the right tone and delivery like no other or deliver a diabolically sarcastic line colourfully articulated and leave the listener in goosebumps galore. His input simply just makes the songs better. And he has no fear breaking boundaries, and I really appreciate that. That is exactly how things should evolve. That's how you make pioneers.

And of course The Commando! Pete was such a big thing for me back in the early days. There was no other drummer even remotely like him back then, and still today. His unmatched and remarkably recognizable style and unique approach to everything he did; his blastbeats with a semi-shuffle footprint that gave an original groove to the blasts even through triggers, his fast fills around the kit that he managed to sound quicker than they actually are, and his ability to pick specific accents and sound sources for slower beats. There is no school where they teach you this stuff, it's as original as it gets.

Pete has given his life and body for mastering his craft. And he is an absolute living legend and a true pioneer of the style for which so many of us are torchbearers to. Thank you for showing us the way and all the best @pete_commandosandoval and @officialdavidvincent ! Many more BPM's to come! 💪🥁
