MEET THE BOARD:Telisha Bernal
Treasurer, Raise to Run
Telisha Bernal is a proud Corpus Christi native and Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi alumna who is passionate about serving her community through healthcare, wellness, and nonprofit leadership.
Her passion for running began more than 15 years ago, inspired by her best friend and her son, who were both involved in the sport. What started as a way to support them soon became a lifelong commitment to health and fitness. In 2023, she and her husband, who has always shared her love for athletics, discovered the sport of triathlon together.
In 2024, their lives changed dramatically when her husband survived a life-threatening aortic dissection. Telisha credits God’s grace for his survival and believes that even life’s greatest challenges can become opportunities to serve others. Determined to turn their experience into something meaningful, they organized a community fun run on National Aortic Dissection Awareness Day in 2025 to educate the public and raise awareness of this often-overlooked condition.
That event became the inspiration behind Raise to Run. Recognizing that many organizations have meaningful causes but limited resources to organize fundraising events, Telisha joined the founding board to help create a nonprofit dedicated to supporting charitable organizations through professionally organized races while promoting health, wellness, and disease awareness throughout the Coastal Bend.
In addition to serving as Treasurer of Raise to Run, Telisha is the founder and owner of Bernal Wellness Center, a primary care practice in Corpus Christi. She also serves as President of two additional nonprofit organizations and remains actively involved in community outreach and volunteer efforts. As an endurance athlete, she recently achieved a personal milestone by completing her first Ironman triathlon. taken in Corpus Christi, Texas by @raisetorun
