Taking you all on a little trip down memory lane ✨ Most of you only know me as raising.id, Abuja homeschool mum or convener #abujastayandplay group but there’s a whole story before that! 😄 So I thought it’d be fun to share a bit of my backstory — and a few fun facts from my 36 years on this earth. Let’s rewind a little ⏮️ My name is Adesola. I love kids, travelling, good food, art, homeschooling and homebirthing. Tell me a bit about you in the comments 💛 by @raising.id
The story behind @consciousfamilycentre Moving from the UK to Abuja in 2019 as a homeschool family I knew I’d have to get out of my comfort zone and find social opportunities for me and my son as we didn’t have any family or friends here. We sold everything and moved on a tight budget so majority of my days were spent doing activities at home and walking around our estate with my then 1 year old son. It was lonely. I missed going out at least 4 times a week to mummy and me classes, story time at the library, the park and children’s centre. Interaction with other new mums and dads in the same boat as you was so vital in that first year of motherhood. So I decided to turn my living room into a playroom twice a week. I reached out to mums in Abuja Expats Facebook group and IG with 1 or 2 families turning up. A few months later I organised our first family day out at National Childrens Park and Zoo. I was shocked by the turnout! Families that have lived in Abuja all their lives didn’t know there were beautiful places to visit on their doorstep. From there #abujastayandplay grew from 4 families to 350+ families today! I felt it necessary for kids that are not in school to still have opportunities to meet regularly, for parents and carers to play and bond with their littles, thus Conscious Family Centre was born! Currently we run Stay & Playgroups 4 times a week. Shortly we’ll have more sessions and clubs for all age kids and parenting sessions including:- 👶🏾BABY PLAYGROUP ♟️ CHESS CLUB 📚 BOOK CLUB 🎲 BOARD GAMES 🤖ROBOTICS CLUB Follow @consciousfamilycentre to keep updated on our new activities, after school/weekend clubs and more coming soon! 🙏🏾💚 #abujastayandplay #consciousfamilycentre #abujaplaygroup #abujafct #abuja #abujakids #abujamums #homeschoolinginnigeria #consciousparenting #abujamums #abujamum #abujaparents by @raising.id
Day 3/30 Challenge showing up consistently here for the whole month so yes it’s going to be random but real. Basically I’m just going to be myself and have fun with it. So yes this is a real problem I’ve been dealing with for the past few months. I’m very low maintenance with my skin, normally just face wash, water, moisturizer. That’s it. So if anyone else has had issues with facials or can recommend where I should visit in Abuja to help with this acne I would really appreciate! Thank you 🙏🏾 by @raising.id
My absolute FAVOURITE jewellery store in Abuja! The months leading up to my brother’s wedding were hectic! I was co-ordinating outfits for the bridal party, my family, and parents traditional outfits. By the time I needed to find jewellery for myself and my mum, I was seriously running out of time! Enter Hazel Jewellers! @hazeljewellers If you know me, you know I love unique, colourful, statement pieces, and this place is SO my vibe! Beautiful handmade jewellery, bold African-inspired designs, gorgeous earrings, necklaces and accessories. Whether you love something simple or something that makes a statement, there’s so much to choose from. Definitely one of my favourite finds in Abuja! And since Christmas is around the corner, if anyone is wondering what to get me… consider this a VERY obvious hint! 📍 Hazel Jewellers, Alex Ekwueme Way, Jabi #abujajewelrystore #abujajewelry by @raising.id

If my younger self could see me now. 🥹 A mother of three, building businesses, creating community, chasing dreams… and still discovering more of myself. Motherhood is definitely my superpower. Mamas, what are three things you are alongside being a mum? Tell me in the comments 👇🏾❤️ #homeschoolmum #blackmum #abujamum by @raising.id

One question we get asked a lot is, “What exactly do you do at Conscious Family Centre?” 😄 Is it a school? A play centre? A homeschool community? Or a little bit of everything? My kids call it forest school or play school. There’s so much more to CFC than what you see when you walk through our doors, and I loved getting the opportunity to share the heart behind what we do during our conversation with Webnation. Have you watched our full Webnation interview yet? Comment “LINK” below and we’ll send you the full video! And if you’ve been to CFC before, I’d love to hear how you’d describe us to someone who’s never visited! ❤️ #consciousfamilycentre #abuja #abujakids #abujafamily by @raising.id
