December 25, 2010.
Just a little girl in my arms.

And now somehow, I’m looking at this beautiful young woman wondering where all those years went.

I wish I could go back and tell that little girl just how much life was waiting for her. The laughs, the tears, the basketball courts, the late nights, the victories, the disappointments, the lessons, the growing…

And I wish I could tell me back then to slow down.

Because everyone says it goes fast.
They’re right.

This senior year is going to be a beautiful kind of bittersweet. I’m incredibly proud of the young woman she has become, while a little piece of my heart still sees that little girl in the Christmas pajamas.

The magic is in the momma.

It’s in the kitchen, with flour on little hands and laughter filling the air.
It’s in the quiet moments of connection, the handmade gifts and decorations, and the traditions we keep year after year.

Because the things that matter most were never about making Christmas perfect.

They were about making it memorable.

The traditions that outlast the trends.
The little rituals our children will one day recreate in their own homes.
The memories woven together, right here at home.

Momma, you may think you’re just making Christmas…

but you’re really making childhood.

Dear Christopher,

If I ever forget to tell you… thank you for this chapter of my life.

Thank you for the early mornings, the late nights, the long drives, the packed gyms, the wins, the losses, and every mile in between.

Thank you for giving me a front-row seat to watch you grow, not just as a basketball player, but as a young man.

I know one day these seasons will be memories. The gyms will get quieter, the schedules will change, and you’ll have a life of your own.

But I hope you always know that getting to be your momma through these years has been one of the greatest gifts of my life.

I’m so proud of you.

And if I could do this chapter all over again, I’d choose every single game, every single drive, every single moment.

I pray over everything because I know I can’t control everything.

I pray over my children.
Their steps. Their choices. Their friendships. Their future.
The doors that open and the ones that close.

What some may call luck, I call answered prayer.
What looks like coincidence, I see God’s hand.

I may not always know what He’s doing, but I trust Who is doing it.

Nothing is luck. Everything is God.

Nobody warned me that the teenage years would hurt my heart like this.

I’m watching them grow, become independent, make their own decisions, and slowly need me less… while a part of me is still begging time to slow down.

I know they’re supposed to grow.
I know I’m supposed to let go.
I know this is what I prayed for.

But goodness… I’m still their momma.

And some days I’m just stumbling through these years with tears in my eyes, trying to be strong while realizing that a chapter of their life is becoming a chapter of mine that I’ll never get back.

They’re writing their own story now.

But they’ll never know…

They aren’t just a chapter in my story.

They are my whole book.

And if I get a little emotional along the way, well… that’s just Momma loving her babies through every chapter.

In Mark 2, a paralyzed man had friends who refused to let anything keep him from Jesus. When they couldn’t get through the door, they climbed onto the roof, tore it open, and lowered their friend down to the feet of Jesus.
That’s the kind of friendship we need.
Not just friends who make us laugh.
Not just friends who are there when life is easy.
But godly friends who pray for us, challenge us, encourage our faith, and carry us toward Jesus when we’re too weak to carry ourselves.
Be caretul who you surround yourselt with.
Choose friends who make you want to know Jesus more, follow Jesus closer, and live for Jesus boldly.
And be that kind of friend for someone else.

They think they’re just my kids… but they’re literally my favorite people on Earth.

The ones I laugh with, pray for, worry about, cheer the loudest for, and thank God for every single day.

Motherhood can be loud, messy, exhausting, and beautifully chaotic, but I wouldn’t trade this life for anything.

One day they’ll have lives of their own, and I’ll look back and realize these were the days I never wanted to end. So for now, I’m soaking it all in. Every hug. Every laugh. Every game. Every ordinary moment.

My babies will always be my favorite people.

The little years can feel long… until you realize they were never going to last long enough.

One day they’re asking you to hold them, and before you know it, they’re asking for the car keys.

So yes, soak in the bedtime stories.
The messy rooms.
The little voices calling “Momma.”
The practices, the games, the rides, the cuddles, the chaos.

Because someday, they won’t need you in quite the same way.

And when that day comes, you’ll realize you weren’t just raising children…

You were living the days you’d someday wish you could have back.

So if you’re in the little years right now,don’t rush them.

Be there. Take the picture. Give the hug. Say yes when you can.

One day, they’ll understand.

They’ll understand the early mornings, the late nights, the long drives, the packed bags, the bleachers, the folding chairs, the cheering, the praying, and all the moments we showed up when we were tired.

And someday, I hope they sit on the sidelines watching their own babies practice and think…

“This is how much my parents loved me.”

Because that’s what all of this has really been about.

Not just the games.
Not just the memories.
Just showing up, over and over again, for the people we love most.

And I’d do it all again. Every single time.
