How many tigers can you spot?

When revisiting a trip to Tadoba in May 2026, I discovered that I had clicked an iconic Tigeress and all her cubs in one frame.

Can you identify the Tigress and tell me how many cubs are in the frame? by @rajsport007

Is India a sporting nation? How far are we from being one?

Can Indian parents actively contribute towards it?

More simply what defines a sporting nation?

Neeraj Chopra believes parents can play a key role and senior sports journalist G Rajaraman admits we are far from it at grassroot level.

Acrobat Ants at #valparai . Their home known as carton nest.

These ants chew up bark, leaves and twigs and mix their salava and scult the mixture into a paper mache like etstructure.

Interesting facts is the rufous woodpecker drills a hole into this nest and lays its eggs. The ants never harm the eggs or the chicks when eggs hatch

Some books are read.
Some books make you pause.

On September 24, I was gifted Maverick Jaspal by Kannan and Rajaraman with a beautiful personalised message from Rajaraman:

“Dear Viji, thank you for being an inspiration, just as Jaspal Rana will always be.”

I started reading it a few days later, without any particular expectation.

I must confess—I am not someone who follows sport very closely. Shooting is certainly not a sport I know enough about to do justice to it. And Jaspal Rana was not a person whose journey I knew much about.

But somewhere along the way, the book pulled me in.

And perhaps it was not just Jaspal Rana the sportsperson who held my attention. It was Coach Saheb—the man Anna describes as a Dronacharya.

His journey, his approach, his relationships, his influence, and the lives he touched kept me turning the pages far more often than I normally would.

I am now almost through the part that tells the life of Coach Saheb. The next section is where others begin to speak about him—their experiences, their journeys with him, and the bonds they shared.

And this is where I felt I needed to stop.

Not because I wanted to put the book down.

But because I wanted to pause and savour what I had just read.

Sometimes, a person's greatness is not fully captured by medals, records or achievements.

It is seen in the people who remember them.
In the lives they influenced.
In the stories others carry long after the moment has passed.

Perhaps that is what makes someone truly maverick.

I am going to take a little time before I turn the next page.

To ponder.
To reflect.
And perhaps, to understand a little more of the life of the man behind the legend.

Some stories deserve to be read slowly. This feels like one of them.
