RENT.

Yall… I don’t even know where to start.

This show found me later than most. My first experience with RENT was singing “Seasons of Love” during my senior year choir concert. After performing it, I finally sat down and watched the bootleg on YouTube. From that moment on, I was hooked. Never in a million years did I think only that 2 years later I’d be stepping into this world as Collins for my PROFESSIONAL DEBUT!!! That still feels surreal to say out loud.

Collins taught me so much. About love, joy, grief, community, and leading with your whole heart. Every night on that stage felt alive, I gave this show all of me, and it taught me so many valuable lessons.

To our creative team, thank you for the care, patience, and trust you gave us throughout this process. RENT is not an easy show to carry emotionally, physically, or musically, ESPECIALLY WITH 8 PEOPLE, and every single one of you helped create a space where we could fully dive into this story. Thank you for challenging us, believing in us, and helping bring this world to life.

To this cast… whew. I genuinely could not have asked for a better group of people to share my professional debut with. What we built together went so far beyond putting on a show. Thank you for every rehearsal, every laugh, every chaotic moment, every pep talk, every hug, and every ounce of love you poured into this process. Y’all are some of the most TALENTED!!!! and beautiful people I know, and getting to tell this story beside you is something I’ll hold onto forever.

And to our director Garret, thank you for trusting me with Collins at this point in my life and career. Getting the chance to play such an iconic role at such a young age, and for it to also be my professional debut, is something I will never take lightly. Thank you for seeing something in me worthy of telling this story, for pushing me to go deeper, and for helping me grow through this process in ways I didn’t expect.

Lastly, to everyone who came to see us, THANK YOU. Thank you for listening, and for allowing yourselves to become apart of this chosen family every night.

No day but today.
