3. Man runs on conscious or unconscious habits.  It's like the way nature has set for us to preserve precious energy and scarce brain bandwidth.  These resources can then be used for other activities.  E.g. we don't think of every muscle's movement when we're running unless we're just learning to run as with a child, or being trained to sprint for an athlete.

Good habits are incredibly hard to set.  It's like they have a really high latent heat of vaporisation.  But once we're up that steep incline, they hold pretty much.

Bad habits however we easily just slide into.  Just let go and nature seemingly takes over.  E.g. you don't need to put effort to lack punctuality. Just do nothing.

Enter quote 1: if you quit, it becomes a habit.  Reduce your pace if you have to, walk or crawl if you need to, but don't stop moving forward!  Don't stop struggling for that virtue!

Enter quote 2: a technique the Adversary uses very effectively with each of us: to convince us there's no point in struggling.  The war is already lost, you've already sinned.  Why struggle?  But we shouldn't quit.  Otherwise it becomes a habit. by @ram_ritho

This quotation by JTW is perhaps the one quote that has hit me the hardest in 2019!

Basically if you're finding easy holding it together as a man in body, mind and soul, then you've most probably aiming for the wrong target.

2nd related quotation: "Growth for the sake of growth is the ideology of the cancer cell." Growth in manliness (body, mind and soul) has to be directed!  Something actively self-conscious!  With the aid of a trainer/coach (body), apprentice-master/instructor (mind), spiritual director (soul). And the struggle doesn't end until after we die.

Over the yrs I've used many quotations/memes in talks & mentoring... This coming yr I plan to share some of my favourite (maybe 1 or 2 every wk - if my inconsistency allows) that I personally find most challenging or deafeningly accurate.

I find these 2 faces of 1 coin

This is especially true if you're speaking about Christian charity which goes to the other extreme: helping others even if you will suffer discomfort for so doing e.g. Christ on the Cross, parents bearing children, etc. by @ram_ritho
