The pen and the paper are two sides of the same coin.

Many of you know me through my columns in @the_hindu, where I dissect the rhythm and geometry of dance.

But the "Critic’s Eye" was actually trained decades ago by the "Artist’s Hand."

Before I wrote about space, I occupied it with Papier Collé. I didn't just transition into writing; I brought the layers of my art—the textures of textiles and the structure of design—into my words.

From the structural layers of paper to the fluid rhythm of a block-printed sari, the vision remains the same. I am peeling back the layers of a 50-year journey to show you how it all connects.

A glimpse of a beautiful morning at Antara. ✨

We had the honour of hosting The Layered Canvas, an exhibition of original Papier Collé artworks and hand-painted sarees by Sri V V Ramani.

The morning began with the auspicious lighting of the lamp, followed by an introduction to the artist and his remarkable artistic journey. The event also featured beautiful Bharatanatyam performance by Smt. Lavanya Sankar, bringing together different forms of artistic expression.

A morning filled with art, conversations and creativity.

The Layered Canvas is open to everyone. Come visit Antara and experience the exhibition for yourself. 🎨✨
