I had the immense privilege of attending a reading of Palestinian testimony read by Max Porter. When he was reading, I got goosebumps and not only because of the devastating words he was reading but because there was something else. One of those things you can’t really explain and I think that’s part of the magic of someone’s power: the ability to make people feel, think and see things differently just with their presence and aura.

So there was no surprise when I got those same goosebumps reading this book by Max Porter.

Shy is about a teenage boy called Shy, struggling with his own thoughts and feelings and over the course of one night we get this intense glimpse into his head and the world around him.

It is intense, deeply sad but weirdly beautiful. I have the privilege of working with young people and this book captured for me that particular kind of teenage isolation, when everything feels too much and you don’t quite know what to do with all the noise in your head.

My few words will never do it justice, so I will stop there. I just hope you read it if you haven’t already.

A must-read! #shy #booktoread #maxporter by @ramapublishing

I am sitting at a coffee shop trying to journal to alleviate my severe anxiety. Anxiety for a sick world we have helped build with our ignorance and desire to just focus on the individual self, and I am also guilty of it. I honestly feel that if you don't feel anxious or depressed, then there is something seriously wrong with you. Palestinians are being genocided in the dark; Congo, Sudan, Nigeria, and now Venezuela. The world is captured by rogue states dictating the future, and how do we fight? I don't have the answer, but one thing I know for sure is that we have to rebuild our communities. Mentor teenagers in your area, support your local businesses, and speak to your neighbour. May 2026 bring the biggest criminal to The Hague. #2026 #newyearanxiety by @ramapublishing

Grateful to my friend at @thecandidbookclub for gifting me this masterpiece. Every page left me breathless. I kept having to stop and write.

Hammad explores how literature, representation and the act of bearing witness interact with history, power and human dignity, asking us not simply to observe from afar, but to recognise the “stranger” and in doing so recognise ourselves.

This book will stay with you for a long time. 🇵🇸
This gem will be available in the Rama Publishing online store very soon.

They say, make a plan and make God laugh. But I also truly believe that after coaching many successful people, the ones who actually succeed are those who write down their goals and plan strategically how to make them happen, one small, bite-sized step at a time. As long as you do something, even tiny, toward it every day.

The tech lords have worked tirelessly to steal our attention spans. Returning to the basics, paper and pen has saved some of my sanity. #dailyreviewplanner #writing #journaling by @ramapublishing

I couldn’t put this book down. On Connection by @kaetempest is one of those reads that hits exactly where it needs to. I have been talking about community for years especially these past two, living through an ongoing genocide and this book captures why connection isn’t optional, it’s essential. Tempest reminds us that Connection has become a buzzword, but real connection takes effort, courage and presence. It made me realise that if I truly want it, I have to keep showing up for it. For those of us who have spoken up for Palestine and felt doors close, this is a reminder to build new ones together. Let's go! #Onconnection #kaetempestonconnection
