Introducing another Golden Star Award 2025 nominee 🌟 The Golden Star Award honours the everyday heroes who dedicate their lives to protecting, rescuing, healing, and advocating for animals. 👉 1 September- 3 October: Nomination Period 🔗 20 October-13 November : Website Voting Dr Emma Rambert was one of the first if not the first full-time female wildlife vet in South Africa, breaking barriers & inspiring other females entering the wildlife field with her courage & passion for over 25 years. Her life’s work has been dedicated to the care of animals, her compassion shines through in everything she does, always putting wildlife first no matter the challenge. Even through personal tragedy, raising two children alone after the loss of her husband, she never lost her drive to protect & care for animals. Her strength, dedication & love for wildlife have made her not only an incredible vet, but a true role model in this field! A word from Emma: ”I am truly honoured to be nominated for the Golden Star Award. This recognition is not only a testament to my dedication & passion for wildlife but also a reflection of my journey as a wildlife vet in Southern Africa. My career began at a time when the industry was overwhelmingly male, making my entry into this field both challenging & rewarding. I received support & guidance from various legends in this field. I am proud to have been one of the first full-time female wildlife vets in South Africa. Breaking through these barriers has fuelled my determination to contribute meaningfully to wildlife health & conservation. Everyday presents new challenges & opportunities to make a difference. My work has taken me to amazing areas within Africa & also abroad. Balancing a demanding career with family life after a personal tragedy has been rewarding. I am blessed with two wonderful daughters who are my greatest inspiration. My passion extends beyond direct animal care: I am committed to education & mentorship. I love to share my knowledge with aspiring vets, students & anyone who will listen. I am grateful for this recognition & look forward to continuing my journey. Voting closes 13th November 🦸🌟 by @rambert_veterinary

Meet Ziera the Zebra!🦓
A few months ago Ziera was abandoned by her mum and ended up alone, hungry, and dehydrated on a reserve. She walked straight up to a staff member’s bakkie and was brought to @bianca_binx_ .Bianca has been handraising her ever since. Dr @emma_rambert123 recently gave her a check-up (with lots of sass from Ziera), and she’s doing well. When she first arrived Dr Emma did a health check and spotted an umbilical hernia, but no surgery was needed, just careful monitoring. Of course, booty scratches were non negotiable, and Ziera made sure Bianca got a few zebra kisses too. (Dr Emma was a bit scary) Watch till the end to see Bailey and Mira pop in for a surprise cameo.✨ #wildlife #southafrica #wildlifevet #veterinary #wildlifeconservation #conservation #rambertveterinary #zebra #handraisedwildlife #rehabilitation #wildliferehab by @rambert_veterinary

Hedwig’s release🦉: The other day, we released Hedwig. Strong, healthy, and finally free. It’s never easy to say goodbye, but this is what wildlife rehabilitation is all about— healing with the goal of return. Thank you to @ph_oeber1 for the incredible care and dedication you’ve shown to Hedwig since the moment he arrived. Your daily commitment to feeding and nurturing him, and your hands-on support with his rehabilitation have made all the difference in his recovery and well-being. Hedwig’s Story🦉: Since December, this gorgeous spotted eagle owl has been part of our lives. Someone found and brought him into the @kimberleyspca who then contacted us. When he arrived he was a small malnourished chick with a suspected wing injury. After a few solid meals, he was taken to @belgravia_vet where an x-ray confirmed a fracture. After the confirmed diagnosis Dr @emma_rambert123 suggested fracture stabilization by taping and securing the wing for a few weeks, during this time he was obviously on cage rest. After removing the tape he was then moved to a bigger enclosure where he could practice flying and building muscle. In the larger enclosure human contact was kept to a minimum. Once he grew a bit, gained muscle and Dr Emma signed off on his over all health he was ready to be released! Part 2 coming soon… #spottedeagleowl #wildliferehabilitation #wildliferehab #wildlife #southafrica #conservation #belgraviavetclinic #rambertveterinary by @rambert_veterinary

🐃 At Maloba, you can join our expert VET team on a once-in-a-lifetime conservation mission: darting a Cape buffalo for health monitoring and ear tag removal. Many of these buffalo once lived in captivity, owned by farmers for the breeding industry — that’s why they carry ear tags. But today, they roam free across Maloba’s 20,000 hectares, and we want them to be as wild as nature intended. After spotting a tagged buffalo from a private helicopter, the animal is safely darted, blood samples are taken to check their health, and the old captivity markers are remove. This is something few guests ever get to witness from this close. A rare, adrenaline-filled experience that gives you a true understanding of what hands-on conservation means🌿 #MalobaPrivateGameReserve #CapeBuffalo #WildlifeConservation #SafariWithPurpose #LuxurySafari taken in South Africa by @rambert_veterinary
