The 71819 has one of the most memorable silhouettes of any sets I have built in recent times. Here it is against the rising sun at Balnarring last weekend. I have really enjoyed sharing these photos over the last few days. I hope you like them. There are a few more over on the blog at ramblingbrick.com

With 1212 pieces and 6 minifigures, this set presents a sublime build, full of interesting building techniques - particularly about rockwork and sculpting with rocky stapes (and just a little moss) - to say nothing of incorporating it all with a tree.
There are some detailed interior spaces and a couple of dramatic play features.
I recommend this set to any Ninjago fans wondering if they still enjoy building with LEGO (Aimed at a 13+ audience, they will, after this), as well as anyone interested in landscaping techniques involving rock work. Designer @citysoncreation has packed so much into this set.

This set was #Gifted by the LEGO Group for review purposes. All opinions are my own.

Been wondering what makes a MOPs module, like the ones being used in our challenge? Here’s a quick and easy guide. ( of course, there are lots of paths to reach the same destination)
Take two 8x16 plates and sandwich a layer of bricks.

Add an 8x8 plate to the middle.

Build up some landscape details, and give the figures some where to go.

Maybe even add a little drama.
Add a frame, or bolt them together.

This is, of course, a guideline. You can burrow into the ground, or build up and over the path. Your imagination is the limit…

Questions? Ask below.
Curious? Check out our classic themes challenge, co-hosted by @brickfambuilds

Retro Happy Plant.

That moment when you get distracted between tidying up a bulk lot you have been sorting, and starting to work on the review for the ‘Cozy Plants’

Sometimes, simple does the job

‘This Is Why You Love LEGO’ is out! Since I am currently in Seoul with a different project, I am yet to get my hands on the physical book. Fortunately @ramblingbrick was kind enough to send me these photos to prove its existence. If you can’t wait to flip through it either, you can now buy your own copy using the link in bio or simply by asking for it in your local bookstore. #bookrelease #lego #legobook #afol #releaseday by @ramblingbrick

Many of the LEGO® Creator 3-in-1 Sets from the January release are display worthy. Which is good, because they do not necessarily have any studs for a brick separator to engage with. The LEGO Group sent this set along for review, along with others in the wave.

31382 Playful Puppy Dog
336 pieces. The puppy rebuilds into a duck or a squirrel. The final models are gorgeous, but I don’t think they are designed to be pulled apart. Fortunately, you probably won’t want to. The set has plenty of relatively new curved slopes in white, medium nougat and reddish brown. I was surprised that there were no studs on the head or body! Only the feet.

(Swipe to the end)
Is this ‘Display’ activity discussed in the marketing materials for Creator 3in1? I searched the Shopper Text for all of the Creator 3in1 sets released over from 2006-2026 (Text existed for 258 out of 270 sets= 95.6%).
“Rebuild” been used throughout the history of Creator 3in1 sets.
“Play” was only used sporadically before 2016-17. Since 2018 it has appeared regularly, but only rarely without the word “display”
The word “display” rarely appeared before 2021, and was associated with 40% of Creator 3in1 sets that year. This year, is is routinely cited in the shopper text for over 80% of Creator 3in1 sets. The word “Play” was far more common during the past 10 years, but prior to this only appeared sporadically in the marketing text, which would focus on the different ways that children might interact with sets (lift, drive, open, twist, soar, spin, soar, etc).
For 20 years, Creator 3in1 sets have been the epitome of LEGO Play: Build, play, rebuild etc… In recent years, the rebuild feels as if it is becoming increasingly optional with an increase in the number of models that look good on the shelf, and are harder to pull apart.
When a theme that represents the core of LEGO Play is changing, does this imply that the nature of LEGO play is also changing?
I take a dive into the Creator 3in1 theme, and explore what it has done over the course of its 20 years of existence. Read more at https://ramblingbrick.com/2026/10/10/build-play-display-repeat-is-creator-3-in-1-losing-sight-of-its-raison-detre by @ramblingbrick

31377 Turtle with Water Lily

124 pieces. The Turtle can be rebuilt as a Chameleon or Frog. Greens and tans aplenty. The turtle is my favourite build here, which is good, because it’s hard to dismantle. The frog lacks the same smoothness, but retains character.

I love this globe print that is part of Creator 3-in-1 31378 Space Exploration Telescope. The set comes with a lightbrick, allowing you to project the images of planets and stars onto a wall in a dark room. I think these models collectively have the best play features of the January Wave of Creator sets. And it’s one of 2 sets in that wave that don’t feature animals.
Anyway, happy 20th birthday #Creator3in1 #rlfm #gifted.
The set has 278 pieces and is priced at $aud49.99/$us34.99.

A terrific gift from @tashologue while I was visiting Denmark. I first received playmobil figures for Christmas in 1974. Most of them are still intact, albeit with faded chrome.

I now feel I need one that is LEGO Branded with a Vitruvian Minifigure. by @ramblingbrick

I found this LEGO Explore/ DUPLO whistle from 2002 while I was in Denmark recently. It only appeared in 2 sets. It has a couple of holes, which lets you change the pitch. Let’s see if we can play a little tune. by @ramblingbrick

After arriving in Jutland, I made my way to the Flea Market.
Would I find the answers I was looking for? Or just Trouble?
Time will tell!

It was a grey day as I waited for the train out of Copenhagen. The wind blew, and I was grateful for my coat as it whistled down the platform.
As we headed to the west, I wondered if we would find the answers we were looking for before the sun dropped below the horizon

Billund: There are over a million plastic stories in the Home of the Brick. With a System in evolution, Things are changing. The bricks that brought me joy as a child continue to engage, but the stories have changed, the blockiness gone and studs becoming so rare that a brick separator is increasingly irrelevant.

And where did it change? Can we pin it down to a single point? A single rogue element? The Rambling Brick is on the road, in search of answers while I prepare a talk for the Skaerbaek Fan Weekend.
Along the way, we will certainly encounter some new friends, old foes and the occasional red herring. But will the answer be forthcoming? Or will we be left with more questions?
The findings will come to the blog in due course. But are somethings better left a mystery?
