So the weather hasn’t been cooperating lately. It’s been super hot and the monsoons have ruined my shade/canopy…again.

Earlier this year I bought a replacement tarp and it looked like it was holding up fairly well, but the sun ate it up within a couple of months and the first monsoon winds finished it off. I strapped sand bags on all the legs so that helped keep it from flying away, but it was swaying enough that it ripped the tarp.

So now I reinforced the heck out of the frame. I used self-tapping screws where the tubes slip-in together and I bought some 3/4” EMT conduit to brace the legs and the roof. Again, I tied sand bags to all six legs along with a couple of old cylinder heads.

Instead of using one big tarp for the roof, I grabbed three 4ft x 20ft tarps (the frame is 10ft x 20ft). Two tarps for the outer edges and one down the roof ridge. I’m hoping this will act as a pressure relief valve when the winds hit again 🤞

Now to get back to working on my projects #toomanyprojects 🙌

A couple of weeks ago I tried my hand at recovering the seats, or what was left of the rear seats. I bought a comforter from Goodwill for the rear seat back for some cushioning. I also bought some Mexican style blankets from Amazon to cover the front and rear seats. It turned out kind of half-way decent 🤷🏻‍♂️😄

I added new carpet and new old-school looking lap belts…you know the kind that will give you third-degree burns in the summer out here 🥵🔥

I’ve been falling behind again on posting updates/progress of kermit, my #1963plymouthvaliant 🤦🏻‍♂️

About a month ago I finally removed all of the old window tint using the good ol’ Arizona heat and a steam cleaner from the Harbor Freight.

I forgot to take some “before” pictures (I’m not very good at this social media stuff 🤷🏻‍♂️) but I managed to find some from when I first got the car. It’s hard to tell from the pictures but it made a big difference. It gave me more motivation to keep going with it 🤘😎🤘

I’m done working on the #moneymaker 🙌…at least for now.

In the last couple of days I finished the front brakes, front and rear suspension work, replaced axle shafts, drained and replaced cvt fluid, and finally an oil change #carmaintenance

I went with a set of @manzousa lowering springs on all four corners. Unfortunately, I didn’t take any pictures before the install, and I also didn’t take any ride height measurements 🤦🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️ But the car does look lower overall…it looks nice and level 🤘😎🤘

Today I only spent a couple of hours on the #moneymaker because I had plans for the rest of the day but it was productive. No setbacks today 🙌

I cleaned up the axle shaft bearing bracket and finished putting together the passenger’s side front suspension. I also started disassembling the drivers side. I’m hoping to be done with the driver’s side tomorrow and possibly start with the rear suspension🤞#tomorrowisanotherday

Today wasn’t as productive as I had hoped 🤦🏻‍♂️ But it’s kind of my fault.

I have a new set of struts that I could have easily installed and moved right along…but I also have a set of lowering springs that I purchased a few years ago. So I figured I #mightaswell throw them on 🤷🏻‍♂️ The front ones are about an inch shorter so it’s not gonna be a huge change but #shorterisbetter 🤘😎🤘

But that took longer than it should have.

I ended up having to go to #harborfrieght to get some tools to finish the installation #harborfreighttools The nice thing is I had a 15% off coupon that came in handy 🙌 taken in Tempe, Arizona by @ramelsgarage

I’m back! It’s been a while since I’ve posted because it’s been a while since I’ve done any work on my cars 🤷🏻‍♂️

This time it’s nothing fun, but it’s necessary maintenance on my #nissanversa #dailydriver aka the #moneymaker…I think I just found the name for it 🙌 from now on it shall be known as the moneymaker or m&m for short 😄

It’s actually beyond necessary maintenance. It was making a bunch of clunking noises and it would shake like crazy every time I hit the brakes 🫨 😳

I started yesterday in the evening mainly setting up and today I tore apart the front passengers side. The axle shaft would not budge and gave me a lot of trouble, but I finally got it 💪😎 I had to use my press to separate the axle shaft from the support bearing bracket. It was rusted on 😳

Hopefully tomorrow will go smoother 🤞 taken in Tempe, Arizona by @ramelsgarage

I’m a little behind on posting but I finished installing the passenger’s side seat for #lachorreada the white #1963valiant 🙌

I made a seat bracket out of angle iron just like I did for the driver’s side (but didn’t take pictures). I rounded off the corners and painted them black 🤘😎🤘

I made some more progress on #lachorreada my white #1963valiant

I finished installing the passenger’s side seatbelts. I made some holes, welded nuts onto washers, and welded said nuts/washers over the holes in the b-pillar. I also had to make room for the seatbelt mechanism (ie more cutting). It’s getting closer 🙌
