last night my daddy went to heaven.

daddy, thank you for all you did for me and our family. you were one goofy, hardworking, loving dad & we were so incredibly lucky to have you — you loved me through thick & thin, you were jared’s biggest fan, you were the best father to sissy growing up when she needed a manly figure, & you were mommas loving husband. but dad you were so many things to other people as well & i hope you know that & you were so much more than all those things & i wish i could’ve explained that more when i had the chance.

times like these are so entirely difficult — my daddy was struggling for an ongoing 8 months & hospitalized for 3 weeks before he went to the Lord. i’ve learned that we take so much for granted and that’s the hardest part. i am so blessed i got to hold dad’s hand one more time to pray over him , to tell him i loved him & to tell him to keep fighting before he went to heaven. i know dad’s free now, he doesn’t have to fight, & that he has peace & im so grateful for that.

Lord, i don’t understand and i don’t have to. God heard each prayer leave our lips and i know He is taking good care of my daddy. dad wanted me to pray over facetime and ever since, i never stop praying over him. every night when i go to bed, when i drive, when im sitting in class, or when im feeling down i will pray and feel the presence of God and dad.

i know before all of this, i should’ve spent more time with him, but i have to believe dad wouldn’t want this any other way. i know now that he will always be with me — when i walk down the aisle, when i give him grandkids, when i graduate college, & when i get my first big girl job, he will be there and daddy, i promise i’ll do everything in my power to make you proud because you did that for us.

thank you all to who have prayed and who have cared for us. please don’t stop praying. pray that dad rests easy and that we feel his presence when we need it.

take this as a reminder to tell your loved ones that you love them and go give them a hug.

Five whole years without you, Dad.

This year was a big one, and I know you’ve been right there with me through it all—from buying our first home to getting married in just a few weeks. Throughout these seasons, I’ve found myself trying to look for you through the eyes of that little girl pictured. You made that girl’s world go round, and though you’re gone, who I am today is because of you. But forever, I’ll be your baby girl.
