a year ago today i was in a rollover car accident that should have taken my life.

i woke up from the accident not knowing who the people i loved most were, i couldn’t walk, and i could barely talk or read.

today i can do all of those things and i even got to finish my first year of college. but that doesn’t mean that the person that hit me didn’t change my life forever. my body will never go back to how it was, there are things that i will forever not be able to do, i have scars on my body that will never go away. but what sucks the most is that they changed how my brain works forever. i lost relationships because i couldn’t remember them or feel them. i lost who i was because i couldn’t remember the things i loved anymore. i will forever be upset that i was robbed of the memories of my life and who i was, but i will also forever be proud of myself for how hard i’ve worked to be where i am today and continue to work to conquer this.

i say this all to remind you that you’re not the only person on the road. someone’s daughter, dad, mom, sister, girlfriend, or boyfriend is in the car next to you and one stupid decision could rob that person from them. my parents getting that call is something that will forever break my heart. be mindful, be smart and remember that could be your loved one.

i will forever be thankful for the nurses and hospital staff that took care of me during my stay. i cannot put into words how grateful i am for them. from the constant words of encouragement, to the baskets they made me on their own time, to the 7ft sunflower balloon they gave me that i still have in my room today, they encouraged me to fight. i also give a big thanks to all my other therapists and doctors outside of the hospital.

thank you to everyone who prayed for me, showed up, sent texts and called, helped my family, etc.

but most of all i want to thank my mom, my dad, my sister and her bfs family, chloe, christian and his family, my extended family and of course God who was definitely in the car with me that day. i would not have been able to get through this without all of you 💗. by @rameyneace
