I got married with @africa.mir_sculpture in the most beautiful place and surrounded by so much love that I can’t even begin to describe. I was over the moon the whole day and it went so fast that a couple days later I’m almost convinced it was all a dream.

We are very grateful to our family and friends for sharing this day with us. You all made the day beautiful beyond our dreams. It was perfect in every way and we will bring it with us all our lives. It was beyond magical. taken in Relais & Chateaux Il Falconiere by @raminiatures

I noticed I never posted the finished pics of this bust I painted last before last summer! Ouch.

This bust was very successful earning me a gold at world model expo and a silver in scale model challenge. I’m happy how it turned out and I want to thank @erik_swinson for his precious feedbacks and especially his friendship.

Discover thousands of fantasy miniatures sculpted and painted by the world’s top miniature artists, as well as a special exhibition featuring the iconic movie creatures of Ray Harryhausen.

In this video, Connor Heaney, Collections Manager for The Ray and Diana Harryhausen Foundation, joins our Museum Director Riccardo Agostini @raminiatures to unpack and display the original Kraken stop-motion model from the 1981 film Clash of the Titans.

The Kraken is one of many original handcrafted stop-motion models featured in our special exhibition, Ray Harryhausen: Miniature Models of the Silver Screen, presented in collaboration with The Ray and Diana Harryhausen Foundation @ray.harryhausen . The exhibition includes models from Clash of the Titans, Jason and the Argonauts, The 7th Voyage of Sinbad, and many other films from Ray Harryhausen's legendary career.

Visitors can experience the exhibition alongside the Verko's Vault permanent fantasy miniature collection beginning October 8.

I don’t post too much about my day job, but as the @verkosvault museum director I had the honor to curate the installation of @ray.harryhausen exhibit here in Vegas and I’m extremely proud to share it. We open in October and I hope you’ll visit us and check this amazing exhibit of movie props.

We got the help of @theminitimemachine museum that held the exhibit before us and sped up the process considerably, so I also want to thank them. If you happen to go in Tucson give them a visit because it’s worth it (miniature dollhouses!).

The NOVA Open is proud to welcome @raminiatures to the judging team for the 2026 Capital Palette!

Riccardo brings a rare dual perspective to the judging table: that of an artist and hobbyist who has competed at the highest level, and that of a professional whose entire career has been built inside the figure modeling industry.

As a competitor, Riccardo has earned Gold Medals at the world’s most prestigious painting contests, including World Model Expo, Monte San Savino, Scale Model Challenge, Kontrast, NOVA and the now gone Crystal Brush, among others.

But Riccardo’s judging perspective goes beyond the hobbyist’s eye. He spent many years at Pegaso Models and Kimera Models, where he designed, judged and evaluated miniatures and box art from a company standpoint.

He now serves as Museum Director of Verko’s Vault in Las Vegas, where he applies curatorial and acquisition standards to evaluate which pieces are added to the permanent collection and how to display them and present them on socials.

We’re honored to have Riccardo helping judge this year’s competition and look forward to the depth of perspective he brings to NOVA 2026.

This is the result of a two day workshop I took with @erik_swinson to get back into painting right after Albert. I decided to test myself with a cold ambience plus cold light that is usually very difficult to pull off for me. I wanted to give this guy a preacher look more than a warrior, like a convert after a life spent fighting and regretting it. I made him blind also.

I don’t know if I managed to capture the feeling but I’m sure you’ll tell me. The model is not finished yet, let’s see if I can complete it before smc.

It was about a year that I didnt paint anything. Moving to the United States, acquiring a visa and starting a new life really messed up with my painting time. So I decided to take @albert.moreto.font class in Vegas @verkosvault to force myself to restart painting.

The class was super nice and Albert is a great teacher even for people like me that are not exactly students anymore. Super recommend.

This is my result of the two day class, I tried something nurglish with my goblin, I hope you enjoy it and I also hope to finish it at some point.

🤗 This all happened just before the Golden Demon competition and the start of my work on painting Fulgrim.
🤩 @verkosvault —the miniature museum—reached out to let me know they were interested in acquiring the Thousand Sons squad I had painted some time ago.
🤔 Their only requirement was that I bring the squad and the character together onto a single, shared base—even a simple one.
😉 That’s when a piece of feedback from a friend came back to mind: « We can’t figure out the source of that secondary magenta light on the armor... »
In my head, the source was the Warp—but I still needed to find a way to actually *represent* that visually.
🤯 So, with some help from @julierami.art on the concept sketches and @bohemond_minis guiding me through the sculpting process, I designed a custom base to bring them all together!
💪 I spent about forty hours sculpting the piece in ZBrush, then had it 3D printed by @deep_space_factory . Finally, I painted it up to provide all the visual cues needed to fully understand exactly what was going on inside my head!
🙏 A thousand thanks to Verko’s Vault for this incredible opportunity, and to @raminiatures for the superb photos he took!

Black fabric usually goes wrong in three ways: it turns flat, it turns gray, or it turns shiny.

What makes it work is controlling temperature, texture, and contrast.

In this cloak study, the black is first mapped with a slightly warm side light, then built up through layered texture: long weave-like strokes, stippling, cleanup glazes, and only at the end a few controlled final highlights. The result stays black, but it still feels rich, worn, and fully readable.

One of the smartest lessons here is that texture should not be equally visible everywhere.
It should be:
- strongest in the halftones
- softer in the lights
- almost invisible in the deepest shadows

That single idea makes the fabric feel more believable immediately.

Another key takeaway is color control.
The tutorial builds the cloak with mixes based on black, red oxide, yellow oxide, white, violet, and even a very light touch of phthalo blue red shade to suggest sky reflection in the highest lights. It does not assign explicit branded Kimera names to the cloak mixes in this section, so the real lesson is the color logic, not memorizing a recipe.

If your black cloth keeps looking dead, glossy, or overworked, study this sequence:
map the light, place the texture, blend it back in, then finish with restraint.

Started a tyranid #killteam painting. I’m going for the kraken color scheme but I’m taking inspiration from real crabs. Let’s see what happens, for sure I’m having fun.
