With a new personal best of 199’7” (60.83m), I placed 3rd at the 5A State Championships.
To truly understand how incredible this competition was, you have to look back in time and across all the other divisions. A throw of 199’7” would have won every other classification this year. It also would’ve taken the 5A title in all but two years since 2012.
Winning in another division would’ve been an amazing experience, but I think being part of one of the most competitive javelin flights in Kansas history was even better.
I’m so thankful for all of my coaches throughout the years. I’d especially like to thank @coachfredschmidt for coaching me these past three years it has been an incredible experience learning from him. I wouldn’t be the javelin thrower I am today without his guidance.
I also want to thank @poppa__shak , who laid the foundation and gave me an unbreakable mindset. I am the athlete I am today thanks to him.
A huge thank you as well to Sam Hardin his technical advice has helped me go far beyond my original goals and to Jameson Faye, my physical therapist at Empower Physical Therapy.
Something many people, especially the athletes I competed against, may not realize is that after tearing my ankle in September and having surgery, I then broke my foot in March. It felt like a major setback, but through the right rehab and routine, we managed it properly. I was able to compete even when surgery was a real possibility.
This senior season taught me more than I ever expected especially about mental toughness and overcoming both physical and mental roadblocks.
I’m truly grateful for everyone who has supported me. by @ramos_throws

188’10” today. Not my PR but this time last year I was in the low 160s. Just trying to get better every week. by @ramos_throws

These are some quick graphics my coach made for me. Demonstrating the transfer of momentum into the block and the acceleration/tempo of the overall throw. I also have been thinking and making different quick drawn graphics to help me understand the throw in a more visual way, but also to use as a teaching method for visual learners. by @ramos_throws

I had a great time this past week at the @huskertfxc camp. I learned a ton in the amount of time I was there and really enjoyed my stay. It was honor being coached by Justin St. Clair, Maddy Nilles, Ty Sevin, Mirta Kulisic. A big thank you to Sam Hardin and Maggie Malone when they left their own workout to come coach me and a few other javelin throwers. Another great experience was getting to watch Dash Sirmon and Emanuela Casadei get some throws in. I had so much fun and am looking forward to coming back for another camp! by @ramos_throws

Here’s some of my best throws from the season. My PR is 189’9” (first video). My form has changed a lot over the season which you can see the difference between my current approach (first video) and my early season approach (last video). I’m looking forward to a great meet this Thursday for regionals and trying to break the school record of 198’! by @ramos_throws
