Is the traditional studio gatekeeper model officially a thing of the past? In my latest article, I explore how media isnt just evolving its bifurcating into two entirely different worlds:

1) The Legacy Fortress: High consolidation, legacy IP, rising subscription fees, and heavy deal debt.

2) The Open Creator Economy: Platforms like YouTube and TikTok where creators build direct audience relationships, retain their own IP, and dictate their own terms.

When platforms that once served as digital video archives are now streaming the Oscars and driving primary IP discovery, the traditional permission-based model loses its leverage. If you’re building in the digital, media, or entertainment space, I’d love for you to check it out: see the link to my article in my Instagram Links above.

Are you feeling this split in your industry?

Lets discuss in the comments.

They call him the “Forrest Gump” of the music business” but @kookn61 didn’t just happen to be standing there when history was made. He helped build the stage.

From running errands in the driving rain to get Popeyes for radio legend Frankie Crocker (for $100 every two weeks) to becoming Sr. Director of A&R at Island Records and 4th & Broadway, Kookie helped lay the bedrock for hip-hop’s golden era. He. championed legends including:
Eric B. & Rakim
Mobb Deep
X-Clan
Divine Force
Crucial Conflict
Most people build careers on industry connections. Kookie built his on raw persistence, curiosity, and an innate ability to recognize major cultural shifts before the rest of the world caught on.
Getting into the building was just step one. What he did with his seat at the table is what shaped hip-hop, dance, and R&B history.

I found a place of peace and clarity today during my time here in San Fran. My Brother Kamau (@letthelightwork) partnered with @gamelatron to create a space of true stillness called 1000 Ways to Sit :: A Gamelatron Sonic Sanctuary.

It's a sanctuary indeed. All of my studies of Stocism, Buddhism, Islam, Hindusim and tapping into your higher self are coming forward in my time here and that calmness that has grown in me fully welcome here.

Check it out @heronarts (7 Heron Street downtown). He said there are tickets on Eventbrite. Go get your mind right. Your vibes deserve it. #mindset #mental #postivevibes #positiveenergy #positiveperspective With #love and #peace taken in Heron Arts by @ranadebc
