@_wimsi_ was having @foolstack_ fill in for me on drums while away from town and Lenni got in a car accident before the show so they trusted the masked red riffer to fill in on gtar for a show a few weeks back. 🎸

first time playing guitar on stage was fun as fuck lol

Wishing a great big Happy Birthday to our favorite newly minted 11 year old, @rippin_reid_anderson!

He can do basically whatever he wants on a skateboard.

Then MOST importantly, he sets a daily example of how to have a great time doing it.

Thanks to Reid and his parents for being part of the Sprak family! taken in Sprak Skateboarding by @rancerstank

We are still riding the high from the Louisville @damnamseries at @sprakskateboarding

If you missed the action, there's always the TampaAm in October at the legendary @spottampa

A shout out to the 24 y/o Peruvian ripper @joakingoto
He rolled in with the TampaAm crew and showed he knows how to impress the judges and please a crowd.

With how he shredded Sprak on his first visit, I can't wait to see what he'll throw in Tampa.

Thanks to all the great skaters, vendors, bands and people that make this happen every year.

He may have missed the podium in Louisville, but that doesn't mean @tre2steezy didn't tear up @sprakskateboarding for @damnamseries

This 20 y/o Tennessee thrasher has put it down for two TampaAm last chance open qualifiers and all three Sprak DamnAm contests, making finals twice. No one blasts a FS Air in the middle of his run like Tre. With a mix of great style and trick selection, you'll always have fun watching him shred a park.

I can't wait to see more from Tre. There's a podium in his future if he gets the run he wants down, for sure.

Vert session.

Still having fun after the finals.

Spending a little time over 12 foot coping.

Best trick flipin... (hardflip? I think?)

Either a spinny backlip or a flippy backlip.

Getting advise from fans.

Here's a quick look at last week's @damnamseries with some photos by @rancerstank
Congratulations to @carlosgarciaskt for his first place finish and to the podium thrashers @keanujbrown and @planetkbomb.
Everyone who's on their pathway to Tampa absolutely shredded the park.

What a great kickoff show with @thesharpstars
@_wimsi_ @lordoverstreet and @grinsteadofficial

We can't wait to host again next year bigger and better than ever.

Whenever I'm aiming to recenter, my mind wonders to eastern philosophy more and more. Especially the Dao De Jing and The Analects of Confucius.

Book 1 of Confucius opens with:
 Is it not indeed a pleasure to aquire knowledge and constantly to exercise oneself therein?

Dao De Jing 33:
Knowing others is wisdom;
Knowing the self is enlightenment.
Mastering others requires force;
Mastering the self need strength.

Those who know they have enough are rich.
Perseverance is a sign of willpower.
Those who stay where they are enduring.
To die but not to perish is to be eternally present.

I think I've been too hung up on increasing "production" on the things I have been doing. However the winds of fate have recently forced my hand into some new skill ventures. I am beginning to think, perhaps I may need to spend less energy worrying about progressing my current skills. I should spend some time learning new ones.

Mastery takes time. As your understanding progresses in a subject, the bell curve of new learning tips over the top and begins to slow. It will take longer to run into issues youve never seen. It will be eaiser to construct your ideas into realities. You're projects will forever have to scale with your knowledge. One can see how after time, resources and logistics can get quite complex to advance ability in this method alone.

Though with new skills, you are starting at the origin of the curve. New understanding pours in rapidly and the skill development process provides rapid feedback. This can be invigorating and motivational. You find yourself expanding your creative processes in ways you previously didn't consider.

I have been looking for various brass pieces for and art project. Some bits I have been trying to find something suitable for, but nothing was coming up. I realized how silly I was being. I'm an engineer. Make them. So here's me at the shop getting centered. I'm pototyping some custom brass fasteners. Hopefully I'll be able to share the contraption they go on soon.

A typical two-year old’s birthday party will include cake and games and probably a few tantrums.

Ours wasn’t too much different but nobody was crying because we were too hyped on the stoke from the locals celebrating with us.

A great big THANK YOU to all of the skateboarders who have come to skate during our first two years.

We couldn’t do it without each and every one of you, and we wouldn’t want to.

Here’s to many more. taken in Sprak Skateboarding by @rancerstank

I recently went on a trip to North Carolina. It was an attempt to slow down...

swipe->to keep reading

#photography #blogpost #mentalhealth

It was beautiful. It should have been easy to unplug and let go. However, my life rarely affords me the opportunity to completely step away.

Conference calls for my day job. Posts, replies, and stories for not only my Instagram but other work I do.

It's been hard to rejuvenate, while still accomplishing the things that need to be done. Finding what I want to do has been hard.

Many of the things that are filling my time are things I choose to do. It is how I am spending my free time.

I'm certainly grateful and pleased to have to opportunities that people so generously extend.

Sometimes when I'm feeling unmotivated, it makes me feel ungrateful as well. As if somehow my perceived ability to accomplish more than I already do, is tied to people's expectations and their overall view of my character.

I think that's something we all do to ourselves. Though, I don't think the act is entirely negative.

I think people just need to make sure the individuals that you're putting in extra effort for are the right people. The one's who put in the extra effort for you.

The one's who love and respect you enough to think that an occasional mild inconvenience is a burden worth baring for the sake of you.

For no other reason than you are the person you are. Not to advance a motive. Not to gain favor.

A person willing to be better because this person makes life better. Willing to accept change from others and willing to change themselves from time to time.

I think we all struggle keeping that list of people short and concise. It's all too easy to start adding every person who seems to rely on you for something.

One should still be a person will to help others, but caution how much you give each person. You can't be emotionally invested in every interaction you have.

Internet parasocial connections, projects at some multibillion dollar corporation, managers that hang carrots on stick, are just some of the things that can distract us with how "important" they are and how you are a part of a "family" 🤮

Jobs are important. Getting al taken in Lake Summit by @rancerstank

I got to check out @unholy.altar at Mag Bar last month. What a show. What a band. Definitely check them out next time they stop by.

Head over to @magbarlouisville to see the killer July line up. I'll hit up as much as I can with my camera, but it's way better in person.
