Santa Lucía de Siracusa, mártir cristiana del siglo IV y patrona de la vista, encarna una fe llevada hasta sus últimas consecuencias. Según la tradición #hagiográfica, la pérdida de sus ojos 👀. fruto de la persecución y la tortura se convierte en signo de santidad y visión espiritual. *weird but real* Su historia expone una constante en muchas tradiciones religiosas: la pertenencia y legitimidad espiritual se construyen a través del sufrimiento del cuerpo. El martirio no es solo castigo, sino condición de beatificación, donde la violencia se transforma en prueba de fe. Esta obra dialoga con la tensión entre devoción y sacrificio. Los ojos funcionan como símbolo de una mirada interior que persiste más allá de la materia. NUT, cuerpo como cielo ✧✨ En la #cosmogonía del antiguo Egipto, Nut es la diosa del cielo, representada con su cuerpo arqueado sobre la Tierra, cubierto de estrellas. 🌌 Su silueta dibuja la bóveda celeste y convierte su propio cuerpo en un espacio infinito que contiene el universo, todas las noches. Ella comiendo y pariendo al sol ☀️ Siempre me ha fascinado cómo, al arquear nuestro cuerpo hacia atrás, podemos evocar esa misma forma: abrir el pecho, extender la columna y crear un arco entre la tierra que nos sostiene y el cielo que imaginamos. En esta pieza, Nut en el cuerpo como territorio sagrado, una forma que nos recuerda que el universo no solo está sobre nosotros; también podemos sentirlo dentro de nosotros. Quizás por eso seguimos reconociéndonos en símbolos / arquetipos tan antiguos e imitándoles: porque hay gestos, formas y movimientos que conectan nuestra experiencia humana con algo ancestral o mejor aun, con la transformación. 🐈‍⬛ ✧ El cuerpo se arquea. Mi/La vida ha sido un mosaico recolectado de noches oscuras y brillos brillantes. ✨Y cuando hablo de realismo mágico, no hablo de huir de la realidad, sino de lo que hace falta para sostenerla: una dosis de fantasía para no ahogarse en lo duro. No pretendo medir el dolor ni crear una escala de sufrimientos; la humanidad lleva siglos cargando con lo suyo. El alma de este proyecto viene del realismo mágico, como corriente literaria, que durante décadas, ha servido a una región entera para nombrar una realidad dura y compleja sin que el dolor se la tragara entera. Un modo de contar donde lo mágico y lo real conviven sin pedirse permiso. Desde ahí conectamos con el espacio etéreo de Cecilia: El Vaivé de Cecilia nace de un mundo que se construye en la mente, en la memoria, en el encuentro con los demás. Entre lo imaginado y lo vivido. Entre lo que dejamos atrás y lo que, al compartirlo, vuelve a florecer. Construir algo nuevo también es construir con lo que llevamos dentro: palabras, recuerdos, canciones, pequeñas formas de decir quiénes somos. Abrirse al otro para volver a encontrar un lugar. “El Vaivé de Cecilia” es un proyecto que nació hace ya algunos años, con la intención de explorar el universo de @cecilia.bellorin y ese vaivén entre dos culturas: Venezuela y Cataluña. Cecilia, la semillerita, como ella misma se define, lleva más de 20 años sembrando un pedazo de Venezuela en el corazón de Poble-sec, Barcelona. Crear comunidad y hacer un espacio construido a través de la memoria, los afectos, las tradiciones y todo aquello que nos permite llevar un lugar con nosotros, incluso cuando estamos lejos. Este proyecto es para celebrar y honrar a Cecilia, por ser puente. Looking forward to the first episode of Art Garage Talks, a space for conversations about life topics with artists through their art. Join us for a 1 hour conversation with Cecilia, Anna and Daniel discussing their latest video and photography project “El Vaivé de Cecilia”, on the Desire to Belong. Cecilia is a Venezuelan artist who’s been living in Barcelona for over 20 years. Anna, and Daniel decided to place Cecilia as the main character to reflect on migration, the desire to belong and a space of encounter between both Venezuelan and Catalan cultures. This visual project is inspired by the aesthetic of Joan Miró with Caribbean hints of Magical Realism and divided into 3 Acts: Day, Night and Dawn. Through these acts, Cecilia shows different angles of her identity through masculine and feminine energy, in a stage-like space which gives the artist a lot of presence. ✨ The talk will take place at @thecover_club and it will be in English & Spanish. Paréa Books (@parea_maastricht) is the only bookstore in Maastricht dedicated entirely to English books, so we wanted to create something very cutesy and very Sofia ✨🧚🏻‍♀️ Also it also happened to be the perfect excuse to create something together (Anna & I) after almost 10 years of @_holadonpepito being on hiatus. Big hugs to Sofia for trusting us with it. We had so much fun bringing it to life hehehehe. If you’re ever in Maastricht, stop by Paréa for a coffee (amazing!), a lovely little chat (recommended!), and a new or secondhand book to take home (worth it :p). Sirens are hybrid beings, born from the crossing of natures that don’t touch on their own. Different cultures gave them their own names and bodies: #Melusine, the #Ondines, #Yemayá, Mami #Wata, figures that traveled, blended, and were reimagined again and again, like everything born at the threshold. Their symbolism is that of the feminine as an untamed force: feared not for their bodies but because they escape classification, resist every attempt at control. They can’t be fully possessed or named. Their melody doesn’t seek to please, it’s a language of its own, a frequency not every ear can hold. A siren’s song reveals: it returns to the listener what they carry inside but don’t dare name. It isn’t sound to consume, but a sonic threshold that demands real presence from whoever receives it. That’s why their call isn’t for everyone. Sirens open only to those who can hold their universe, who don’t try to reduce them to a single note, but can inhabit, without breaking, the whole of their melody. taken in El Mar by @randomlovers
