I don't have all the right words, but I'll try.

This past Wednesday, the night before Thanksgiving, was the final night of @exit_in, an independent music venue that has been rocking Nashville for over 50 years. From Johnny Cash, B.B. King and Chuck Berry to Curren$y, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Run The Jewels and everything in between, Exit/In has been holding down the Rock Block with amazing music for decades.

After leaving the Biden campaign during the 2020 primary, I came home with no job. I went to Exit/In one night for The Boom Bap, where I ran into an old friend who was working security. I told him I needed to put some money in my pocket, so he got me a gig working security.

After my first night working, where I saved the GM from Jellyroll's Mafia (if you know, you know this is absolutely hilarious), I knew I found a new home in Nashville.

The story turns a bit here: New Nashville has a way of not giving a damn about history or culture, and plenty of property and landowners are contributing to this. The owner of the property sold the building to AJ Capital without Exit/In having a chance to buy it themselves. When E/I raised money to match AJ, they still refused to sell.

A few months ago, when I found out we were going to close on Thanksgiving, I knew I had to be there. After 2 nights of standing on the side of the stage and watching over the crowd, I decided to do what I helped others do all night: during the final song of the final show at Exit/In, I stage dived and crowd surfed.

What. An. Experience! It's a week later and I'm still riding the high from that night. As sad as I am that it’s all over, I’m even more thankful that I was able to be a part of the Exit/In family. They said “Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened.” Well I’ve been smiling for a week straight. From KRS-One and Scarface to Jimmy Buffett, Kenny Chesney and even Al Gore, I got to see some legends during my time at E/I.

Hello,

My name is Rondriquez White, and my father was William Travis White, Sr.

On Thursday, January 11th, 2024, my father passed away.

My father was a complicated man. He was a son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle. He was one of the most intelligent men I’ve known in my life. He knew how to make everybody feel good and could keep you laughing nonstop. He loved his blood family, and had no issues turning his friends into chosen family.

At the same time, my father lived a wild and chaotic life. As much good as I can speak, I can speak just as much on his flaws. Those who loved him most are also those who he has burned the most. He spent time in and out of the penal system. He wasn’t consistently there for all of his children. The list can go on.

Due to his lifestyle, at the time of his death, there are no funds available for us to cover his funeral expenses.

Regardless of the flaws he had, he was a man who was loved by many. He deserves to have a funeral with dignity, respect, and honor. I’m not asking for money to give him a lavish funeral with all the bells and whistles. I’m asking that we give him a funeral worthy of a son, father, brother, and uncle who was loved. The same grace you would want towards your own troubled but loved family member, I’m asking that you show for ours.

If my father ever made you laugh, checked in on you when you were down, stayed by your side during a tough moment in life, gave you some great advice that he himself didn’t listen to, or was just a joyful presence in your life, please consider donating. Any amount will be greatly appreciated.

Funds raised will go towards funeral expenses, securing and transportation of cremains, and to support the family with any unexpected expenses they will have to endure.

One week from today, I’ll be returning to The Farm for the first time in 3 years. This will be my 7th Roo in a row. So much has happened in that time. So many different energies inside of my that haven’t been released. But soon enough, I’ll be able to dance and sing and party all of it out and begin anew. See you soon #Bonnaroo! by @randomron

It’s been 2 years since I’ve received a package like this. The joy this brings me is indescribable. In a world filled with chaos and destruction, there’s one week in June where I can truly escape. Since my first Roo in 2014, it’s been a place of transformation for me. I place where I can let go of all the stress that has built up since the last event. I never leave Bonnaroo the same way I came. After the last 18 months, I need this more than ever. I’m vaccinated. I’m gonna take the necessary precautions while I’m there.
