The Iban Dayak.

Headhunted trophy childskull, the Iban Dayak tribe of Borneo were known as fierce headhunters and the elder & children were protected more, in the centre of the enemy village, so taking a child skull as a trophy was a big achievement for a warrior. Inside the skull is a waspsnest as well in the left eyesocket.

The Asmat Ndaokus.

A brutally conquered enemy skull from another village who has been cannibalized and taken as a trophy.

These are very hard to come across compared to the already scarce Ndambirkus ancestor skulls. I’m very glad to add this to the collection of Asmat pieces I already own from the Kleyer collection.

The Kayan

A early headhunted trophy skull, taken from an enemy by the Kayan Dayak tribe in Borneo, Indonesia. The head was severed with brutal Mandau chops, hence the damage on the skull, as well it is covered in scalping marks. These trophies typically were hung together in the longhouse & each year they would take out the skulls for ceremonies to be fed and covered in dragons blood juice. Inside the skull you see the typical spots of residue from the native bees.
This example was collected by a anthropologist back in 1885. by @randy.forest

The Ndaokus

The headhunted skull from an enemy, wich the victorious warrior would take as a trophy to his own village to be scalped & to be feasted upon during a ceremony, through cannibalism. The hole in the temporal bone is made to extract the brain for consumption.

This skull and other items such as daggers, necklaces & warshields were collected by Professor Kleyer during the 60’s in Irian Jaya, Papua New Guinea.

“An Ode To A Rounder” is online now!
You can find it on your favourite online streaming or download service. The vinyl copies are being worked on and hopefully they’ll arrive sooner then later. SHARE & LISTEN with your friends while being drunk this weekend, and all the days to come afterwards.

Today it would’ve been your 60th birthday, that means it has been 5 years since you had to leave us, but I’m glad you did. I’m glad time spared you all that happened after and I hope you’ve found the peace in mind you deserved so much. And IF there is something up there, I hope it’s the sanctuary for you and Mom.
