🪶🎨 “We are all part of this one spirit.”

For our final segment with Diné Navajo artist Randy L. Barton, aka Randy Boogie, Randy takes a moment to shout out the people and crews who helped shape his journey.

He gives love to his mother, the grandmother who raised him, his aunt who taught him about earth art, and his father who helped make him the person he is today.

He also shouts out his graffiti crew, his B Boy family with Foundation of Freedom Style Elements Crew from Stockton 209, Choppa de Sol, the OGs, and the homies who have passed on.

Then Randy leaves us with a bigger thought.

If he had the world’s attention for just one moment, what would he say?

Take the universe, the stars and everything beyond. Divide that by existence, the plants, animals, people, and all living things.

That equals life.
Life equals one spirit.
We are all part of that one spirit.

It’s up to all of us to keep that energy alive. 🪶

🎨🪶 Your dreams are only limited by what you can imagine.

In this segment, Diné Navajo artist Randy L. Barton, aka Randy Boogie, shares advice for Native artists on making their dreams a reality.

For Randy, that begins with studying yourself, exploring your inner world, and learning to access your own sense of lucidity. He speaks about controlling your dreams, finding the astral projection within yourself, and connecting with your future self. When you can do that, he believes you can master anything.

Randy also reminds artists not to create for the money or the accolades. Real money and recognition should never be the reason you pursue your art. As an artist, he has always been able to move through the cosmos, allowing his imagination and vision to guide him.

Create boldly, dream deeply, and remember that your only limit is what you believe you can dream.

Art is subjective.

In this segment from our conversation at SWAIA, Diné Navajo artist Randy L. Barton, aka Randy Boogie, talks about his experience as a graffiti writer, creating art in the darkest and most isolated places, and finding inspiration in unexpected moments.

He talks about being out in the middle of nowhere, with the train tracks and the stars coming down and touching you. About trusting the colors on his spray cans when there was nothing else around.

His message is simple: Don’t do art for the money. Find it within yourself and every artist has a story.

Art is about playing, telling your story, and finding that harmonious duality within yourself.
