Huge thanks to our amazing media partner, Positively Charlotte, for celebrating the filmmakers and films that make the Charlotte Film Festival so special. ❤️

Charlotte, what’s the good word!? 🥲

This Thursday, @stackthefilm screens at @charlottefilmfestival at the beautiful @iph_clt.

September 24 | 5 PM | Independent Picture House.

We’ll be screening in a block called Hands at Work, and this is how the festival describes it:

“Physical labor is not simply a matter of muscle, but a sensory dialogue with the world, one that can, in some instances, determine your life and well-being. The characters in this collection of documentary short films use their hands and their hearts to find meaning and purpose.”

🗣️C’mon now

Whether Stack was laying bricks throughout the night, or I was on my laptop editing in the wee hours of the morning, these hands saw about some work.

I’m glad the labor was well received.

This Friday, @stackthefilm will screen at the Greater Cleveland Urban Film Festival (@gcuffcleveland). I’m honored to be at the crib.

The shorts block is titled: Laughing Through It: Comedy With Something To Say.

Ahh man, they got ya boy on a panel. 🥲

Cats know I can’t get enough of @nabjofficial. It’s been a huge part of my journey. From the beginning, so many people poured life into me and encouraged me to keep it going. I’ve been showing everybody and they mama my sports reel for what feels like forever now.

It’s been a ride. Layoffs. Pivots. Life. But everything I learned in the newsroom, I carry with me today as I build the life I want as a documentary filmmaker and then some.

Believe me, we got options. You can do whatever you want in this life. There are plenty of ways to cook and everybody can eat.

I’m looking forward to chopping it up with a room full of people who found their own lane. We’re gonna rap about betting on yourself, pivoting when life calls for it, and building a career on your own terms.

Pull up on us at #NABJ26, we got a lot to talk about.

We cooking with gas now, doc 🙌🏾

@stackthefilm will screen at @bronzelens Saturday, August 29th at 12:05 PM at Tara Atlanta!

This film is an ode to my family. Our roots run deep in the South — a place our grandparents called home. Many a reunion, too many cousins to count. It’s only right that we’re making our way back.

Can’t wait to celebrate with my people and be a part of such a special film festival.

What a time. 😆 Stack had its World Premiere at @danceswithfilms and it was such an incredible experience. Long nights in front of my laptop turned into a celebration with so many talented filmmakers.

Stack put the bricks down to come to Los Angeles and I had my parents on my hip the whole trip. Can’t beat it with a stick.

I’m beyond excited to announce that my debut short film, Stack, will have its WORLD PREMIERE at Dances With Films.

I made this film last year fresh off a layoff. I copped a camera, jumped off the porch, and started telling the stories that mattered to me most.

So I spent Father’s Day weekend following my cousin Stevie — a pastor, bricklayer, and one of the silliest cats I know — while he worked.

That turned into Stack.

Huge thank you to the folks at @danceswithfilms, the good people at @theartofdocumentary and all of my cornermen out there.

Life is a trip.
