Well it’s official! I have a new project dog❣️ Anyone who follows our page knows we have a huge soft spot for feral dogs and helping them learn to trust the world again. Today, meet Polly. ❤️ Polly is 8 years old and came to us from a hoarding case involving more than 130 Chihuahuas. She was the only large dog on the property and was left alone in a shed outside. We have no idea how long she was there, but it’s clear that Polly is deeply traumatized. She may look terrified in this photo, but please understand that this is SO much better than when she first arrived. Polly is frightened of just about everything. Sometimes she wedges herself into a kennel or corner and refuses to move. At 70 pounds, helping her navigate those fears is a challenge, but we’re working on it. And here’s the beautiful part: in just FOUR days, Polly has made progress! She’s met the three dogs in her foster home and is doing wonderfully with them. Their confidence seems to bring her comfort. She sleeps peacefully on a dog bed in her foster parents’ bedroom all night, and once we get her moving, she starts to find her way. Rehabilitating dogs like Polly takes the right foster, patience, and a willingness to let the dog set the pace. We’re so grateful Polly has someone who understands that. We’ve seen what is possible with these dogs, and we’re excited to watch her journey unfold. Can you help us care for Polly and our two other new intakes? Donations are so appreciated! Venmo: ALIVE Rescue Memphis PayPal: Ranise.aliverescue.com Can’t donate? Please share Polly’s story. Every bit of support helps us give these dogs the time and care they deserve. Polly, we’re rooting for you. One tiny step at a time. by @ranisenriot
This family means so much to me and to post this today has me in my feels. Dogs are fucking magical and I don’t know what I would have done if I moved here and never met Cynthia & Pops. It’s impossible to be at the shelter and to pick out the right dogs-they are all so special-but sometimes you just know the right match❣️🫒 Sometimes, dogs just know. ❤️ Our foster girl Olive has a new mission, and she didn’t waste any time getting started! Today, her foster mom’s dad moved in with her after leaving assisted living, and Olive has already decided he deserves some extra attention. She’s checking in on him, making sure he knows she’s nearby, and, of course, taking every opportunity to climb into his lap for some snuggles. We don’t know exactly what Olive knows or what makes her so determined to keep an eye on him. Maybe she just knows that someone could use a little extra company. Maybe she’s simply decided that this human belongs to her now. Whatever the reason, she seems to have appointed herself his personal companion, and we think she’s doing a pretty wonderful job. Olive came into rescue needing someone to give her a chance. And now, in her own sweet way, she’s already giving a little love right back. Sometimes, fostering saves a dog. And sometimes, a dog shows up and reminds us just how much love they have to give. Go, Olive. We think you’re pretty special. ❤️ by @ranisenriot
Please go wish my favorite human being @mattfncoppens1980 a Happy Birthday! He is a wonderful dad to our dogs and countless fosters. He’s a stand up human being and a wonderful husband. He also swears he’s not a part of the rescue, but countless dogs have been saved because of him being in my life and supporting my passion. I couldn’t be happier to spend this evening and weekend with him. On Sunday though-it’s Bear Down! Love you Matt! by @ranisenriot
Super pumped about this new rescue mission! We’ve teased you a little bit in our Instagram stories, but we’re officially ready to let you in on what we’ve been up to lately. If you’ve noticed a few cats popping up on our page, there’s a reason! ALIVE Rescue Memphis has started a TNR program in a small cove in Memphis. A very close friend, foster, and adopter reached out after discovering a community of cats being fed very close to their home. Their 11-year-old son has actually become the most active part of their little neighborhood cat crew. He loves going over every morning before school to feed the cats and make sure they’re taken care of. Once we realized just how many cats were living in this colony, we decided to change the way we rescue for a minute. Rescue isn’t always about bringing an animal into a foster home. Sometimes, the best thing we can do is help animals stay where they are while making sure they are healthy, cared for, and no longer contributing to the cycle of kittens being born outside. That’s where TNR — Trap, Neuter, Return — comes in. We’d like you to meet Joseph and Hugo, our very first two TNR cats. We trapped them, had them neutered at Spay Memphis, and then they spent one night at Jenn’s house to decompress before being returned to their colony. They’re now back where they belong, being checked on and fed every day — and they are thriving. This is something new for ALIVE, but we’re excited to see where it takes us. There are so many animals in our community who need help, and sometimes changing the way we rescue means meeting them exactly where they are. If you’d like to support our kitten mission, there are two ways you can help: Venmo: ALIVE Rescue Memphis PayPal: Ranise.aliverescue@gmail.com And if you can’t financially help, please share this post. Sharing helps us reach more people, more resources, and ultimately more cats who need us. We’re excited to take you along as this new part of ALIVE Rescue Memphis grows. Welcome to the TNR crew, Joseph and Hugo. 🐈 by @ranisenriot
Another Gonerfest in the books. I took a “nap” Sunday and missed Overton Shell but the rest of the weekend was a blast! by @ranisenriot
Holy shit you guys! It happened! Yes you will see a new foster dog with me asap but this was a rough one to let go- Two years…..Rosemary has been my foster dog for TWO YEARS. Two years of watching her heal, grow, and become the dog she was always meant to be. When Rosemary came into my life, I never imagined everything we would go through together. She had seizures, a lump removed, and more medical appointments, medications, procedures, and worries than I can count. Every day, we worked on helping her feel better. We tackled one medical issue after another, celebrated the good days, and got through the scary ones. Somewhere along the way, she stopped feeling like a foster dog and she just became mine. There were people who told me Rosemary probably wouldn’t get adopted. A senior dog on multiple medications, with seizures and a medical history like hers, was going to be a very hard sell. And honestly, I was willing to keep her. But we never gave up! We never stopped believing that someone would see Rosemary for who she is and say, “Yep. She’s my girl.” After countless adoption events and social media posts-someone finally did, and not just anyone! We found a family who knows and loves beagles and understands senior dogs with medical needs. Her age, medications, and history didn’t scare them away. They saw HER. They saw the sweet, quirky, independent little soul I have loved for two years, and now she is home! There are a LOT of tears because Rosemary has been part of my everyday life for two years. But today I’m choosing to focus on what a gift those two years have been. I got to be her foster mom. I got to help her heal. I got to earn her trust. I got to love her. Rosemary-You proved everyone wrong, sweet girl. And even with a broken heart, I couldn’t be happier that you finally found your forever. Go be someone’s whole world. You always deserved that. ❤️ by @ranisenriot
We needed this trip but Patty DESERVED it. Thanks to everyone who supported us going and having a blast! 17 years of marriage and so many dogs but like we always say-Patty is the best to ever do it by @ranisenriot
I’m burnt but so happy! Thank you to Randa Rives Fergus for the best girls trip! Panama City you showed us a lot of fun and I’m forever grateful. by @ranisenriot
Had the greatest trip in Nashville with Matt, My SIL Allison, MIL Jean and the girls! We had the best time hanging in different neighborhoods each day, lounging by the pool, eating amazing food and playing games upstairs by the hot tub! An incredibly special person was very missed but I’m sure he enjoyed watching us make so many good memories. Thank you for such a fun trip! by @ranisenriot
We raised over $2000 for Memphis dogs last night and I couldn’t be happier. Just when I give up on this city it gives back in a way that I can barely put into words. by @ranisenriot
I seriously have some of the most thoughtful friends and I’m so lucky. Randa told me she had a surprise for me today and to put my shoes on and come outside. When I got out there in the back of her truck was this bench-not just any bench. A bench I had fallen in love with the last time I got to visit her. Not only did she go back and got for me-she sanded and painted it and dropped it off today. 2026 has sucked for a lot of reasons-but I’m so damn lucky to have a friend like Randa. She listens-pays attention-and is always there for our daily conversations. I love you @hairgirl1957 by @ranisenriot
