Undoubtedly the first of many Kopitiam Lah brunches - the standout is the Kopi Cold Coffee (absolutely addicting), the fried chicken is crispy af and the sauce takes the whole experience up a notch, the Satay Crobun was massive and flaky (and tasty). You should do yourself a favour and attend this walkthrough. // raw notes - What if a house felt alive? What if it was nurtured to receive and give back?
2. Robert Stephens is a wonderful storyteller. He will preface the walkthrough saying he’s an introvert but that’s simply to lull you in the brilliant story of the marvel you will see, hear, and touch.
3. It soon dawns on you that this is not the archival history of a building but the values, hardships, and life of a being in a building’s form.
4. His wit and humour wrap around a core of values and ideas which are beautifully told and shown.
5. The house has the cathedral effect Robert mentions and you will undoubtedly come off awed and inspired - not necessarily about creating your own house but in any part of your life which is guided by values.
6. It’s also super friendly to architecture noobs - you could treat it like an architecture masterclass and blurt out words like Corbusier.
