sound on ! here’s a little taste of the new song « deep moves » out the 21st of October. hope you enjoy this tiny slice and don’t get too frustrated by wanting more and more, like you always do. it’s just marketing guys. ‹my only goal is you to be chill until the release, so please, just be cool and patient, man. you can’t have everything you want in two seconds. be cool. don’t panic. don’t spam me. don’t knock on my door. don’t camp outside my house. the song will come out eventually.‹peace photo taken in Venice Beach this summer by the love @melodie_crr #indiemusic #indieartist #ɮᮇᮡsᮏɮɱ by @raouljay_
Born in the cold brick streets of Brussels in 2025, Raoul Jay is the new project from Breton singer-songwriter Lucas Benmahammed (Born Idiot, Dude Low). Somewhere between indie rock and bedroom pop, with TV Girl, Getdown Services and Julian Casablancas somewhere in the background, the Brussels-based artist explores the darkest parts of his own story with an almost dangerous lightness. Clean-cut guitars, blown-out vocals and oversized drum machines create a constant sense of ambiguity, at a time when nothing seems to matter anymore. Raoul Jay is the product of an era that crushes everything in its path. A human overwhelmed by machines far bigger than himself, who somehow keeps writing and singing dumb little songs anyway. Both artistic and political, the project sets out to blow apart the clichĂ©s of well-behaved pop. Its ambition is simple: to get everyone dancing, from the bodybuilder influencer to the stray dog in the parking lot. A cheesy chorus, a melody that’s almost out of tune, and suddenly there’s something that feels like hope, even if you don’t quite trust it. Cynical vocals drift across oversized drum machines and guitars polished to the point of sterility, offering a brief escape from the slow, unremarkable tragedy of everyday life. by @raouljay_
