I’m Brazilian, but I’d never made acarajé- one of Bahia’s most iconic street foods. So I finally decided to make it and wow.

Crispy black-eyed pea fritters, rich shrimp vatapá, dendê, and a bright vinaigrette. It’s a combination I can see myself craving again.

And my American husband got to try it for the first time, too.

Brazilian food has always been my way of staying connected to my roots.

I’m grateful I get to keep sharing it beyond my kitchen 💚 @fox4news

I’m turning my American husband into a Brazilian through food and to start, I made him Bobó de Camarão - Brazilian shrimp stew with yuca 🇧🇷 ❤️

Here I go again, driving all around Dallas to find a very specific ingredient for dinner 🥲

So today, you’re coming with me to find the perfect pumpkin. @dallasfarmersmarket

Então hoje vocês vêm comigo procurar a abóbora perfeita.

Conseguem adivinhar o que eu vou fazer?

One thing about me, I will go to any length to find the right ingredients for my dishes. I’ve been driving all around Dallas looking for the best corn for my Brazilian pamonhas (similar to a tamale).

If you live in Dallas and know where to buy field corn, help your girl out 💚

💚 by @raphi_silv

I’ve been cooking my way through a lot of ideas lately, and these are the ones that I’m really proud of.

A mix of Brazilian flavors, things I’ve been curious to try, and a few experiments that actually worked.

Which one caught your eye first?

This is your sign to make empanadas from your leftovers

I took my leftover Cola carnitas and turned it into a juicy, savory filling with sautéed onion and garlic, a little chicken stock, pickled onions and cilantro, then tucked it into empanada dough and baked it until golden and crisp.

The pickled onions are the little thing that makes the filling work. They cut through the richness of the pork and keep every bite from feeling too heavy.

I make these whenever I have leftover meat, but these empanadas taste especially good with leftover braised meats.

🇧🇷 Sobrou carne? Faz empanada.

I was craving French onion dip, so I turned it into a one bite appetizer.

Charred scallions, caramelized shallot and tangy labneh layered onto @ruffles chips, then finished with prosciutto for that salty, silky bite.

It has everything I love about French onion dip- sweet, savory onions, cool creaminess and plenty of crunch. Just in a completely different form.

I love when you follow a craving somewhere unexpected.

If you grew up eating carrot cake in the U.S., Brazilian bolo de cenoura is a very different experience 🥲

The carrots are blended into the batter, which gives it that bright orange color, and it’s finished with a chocolate brigadeiro topping, a rich Brazilian chocolate made with condensed milk and butter.

One of my favorite Brazilian classics.

A little September outfit recap with my favorite looks from the month 🩷

My favorite is the @yellowthelabel lace skirt with black peplum top I wore for my birthday dinner. I actually can’t wait to style it again for the fall.

My husband has learned not to trust Brazilian food based on the name alone 😂

“Stuck cow” is the literal translation of vaca atolada, and it’s one of my favorite Brazilian comfort food dishes.

It’s made with beef short ribs and yuca, slow-cooked until the meat is tender and the yuca gets soft and almost creamy.
