Today, a part of my heart left with you.

I still hear your laugh… loud, warm, unforgettable.
I still see you with your cigar and that cowboy hat, like nothing could ever touch you.

You were more than an uncle to me…
you were a light, a presence, a whole feeling.

You believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself.
You pushed me to hold on to my dreams, no matter how hard it got.
And the way you welcomed me… always so theatrical, so full of life… like I was stepping into a beautiful scene just for you.

I don’t know how to accept that you’re gone…
and I don’t think I ever will.

But what breaks me and comforts me at the same time…
is knowing that you’re now with him.
With my brother… the one I’ve missed every single day.

I keep imagining that moment,
the way he looked at you, the way you held him,
two pieces of my heart finally finding each other after all this time.

Maybe you told him about me…
and maybe he told you how much I’ve been missing him.

Hold him close for me… for as long as I can’t.

Now you’re not alone, and neither is he.
And somehow, that thought both shatters me… and gives me peace.

I will carry you both with me in every step, every dream, every stage I stand on.
