Vulnerable post… honestly, I didn’t plan on celebrating my birthday this year. I hardly ever want to celebrate myself, and this year was no different. Work has been slow, money’s been tight, and I’ve been isolating more now than ever. My fear of being perceived has been slowly killing me. I haven’t accomplished the goals I set, and the pressure of wanting to retire my parents has been eating me up. It felt impossible to celebrate myself when I’m nowhere near where I want to be.

But then I was reminded by my haftays that I deserve to be celebrated in every phase of life. They planned a weekend full of surprises that made me feel at peace and actually excited for this next chapter. I felt so seen and loved, something I honestly haven’t felt in a while. Forever grateful for them 🤍

As I enter this next chapter, I promise to show up for myself. To love every phase, accept every challenge, and give myself grace. I learned so much in my 20s, and I’m grateful for every experience that shaped me into who I am today.

Confession #1
After 29 years, ya girl finally took her first trip out of the country 🥲 (yeah yeah yeah I know it’s just Mexico, just be happy for me hoe). And to make it even more special, it was to celebrate my lil sis’ 21st birthday 🥹🤍.

If you know me, you know I’ve always wanted to travel—passport ready, telling the world I’m going here and there… but never actually booking the ticket 🌚. Ngl I was a scary lil bitch who hated flying but truth is I felt guilty (still do) about taking luxury vacations when I’m still so far from accomplishing my goals. How could I be out here living it up while my parents are still waking up at the crack of dawn for 10/12-hour shifts?

But what if the one thing I’ve been holding myself back from is the very thing that sets it all off for me? Like let’s be fr, I am a Sag sun, Gemini moon, Aries rising… my poor soul has been DEPRIVED 🥺.

My sister finally got fed up with my failed promises and booked the trip herself so I couldn’t back out lol. And I’m so glad she did, because baby, we had a TIMEEE (tik toks coming soon) ! Now I get it, I absolutely get it. This trip was healing in ways I didn’t expect and gave me all the motivation I needed to make this my reality.

I cannot wait for the day I retire my parents and show them a life of enjoyment instead of survival. To finally take that family trip and experience a summer in Eritrea that I’ve always longed for.
