Installation views and photographs from our fish and chip shop show @raraarachel

An invitation to navigate the city and engage with photography in it’s various registers.

Rachel Edwards and Johnathan Mellish present Trophy Catch, an international exhibition of photographs and text displayed across 13 fish-and-chip shops
in Cape Town and London.

The project documents professional mermaid performers within incongruous commercial environments, such as corporate offices and shopping centres.

Each subject was recorded using
a ‘trophy catch’ form adapted from
various online fishing magazine
submission templates. These forms
were then completed by the performers to document specific metrics, including the length and weight of the catch caught by the photographer.

The photographs are produced as newspaper xerox prints and installed
within fish-and-chip shops, as well as other sites of consumption, across both cities.
