A heart with wings 💚

What if true freedom is not found in separation, but in connection?

Maybe, when we connect with the Divine within us, the heart finds its wings. ✨

A freedom that blossoms from within!

There is no reality but God, who is mercy and compassion.

The Threshold

A place of remembrance, practice, companionship and service.

A place where we gather, listen, learn and remember

And then we return to the dunya
To our homes, our work, our everyday lives

But do we truly leave the dergah or do we learn to recognize the Divine beyond its walls?

Can remembrance continue in the midst of ordinary life?
Can the heart remain connected when everything around us changes?

Perhaps, slowly we learn to carry the dergah within us. 💚

It is a living, breathing organism of its true followers.

It’s not about the form.

Yes, the form has kept the tradition alive for centuries.

But we can become so attached to the form that we forget the essence.

The form is not the aim, but a stepping stone.

To prepare ourselves to become an empty vessel through which God’s light can shine.

Are our nafs (ego) becoming more transparent, more refined?
Or are they growing bigger because we think we are becoming somebody?

For me, it’s not about how well we master the technique,

One of the most beautiful things I witnessed during a ceremony was how the firekeepers tended the fire.🔥
Every piece of wood was placed with care, presence, and intention.
Watching them, I realized something.

The first spark can feel magical, but a spark alone cannot sustain a fire.
At some point, the wood that was first placed has already burned. That is its purpose.
But if nothing new is added with the same care, presence, and intention, we eventually find ourselves trying to keep the fire alive with scraps of paper.
Paper creates a flame for a moment…
But it cannot offer lasting warmth.

Maybe the same is true for the things that truly matter❤️‍🔥

P.S. This fire isn’t from the ceremony 🤣… it just reminded me of this reflection. 🔥

There are moments that don’t just become memories… they become remembrance.

I’m so grateful to have shared this beautiful evening of Qawwali and Sema in Amsterdam.

Thank you, brother @dervishaziz , for your trust, your guidance, and for holding such a beautiful space to learn, observe, and turn beside you. It was truly an honour. 🥹

And thank you to the incredible @fanna_fi_allah ❤️‍🔥 Qawwali musicians, whose music carried us throughout the evening and created such a sacred atmosphere.

Looking back, my heart is simply filled with gratitude. 🥹

May we continue to meet in remembrance.🤲
