Many Men Pt. 2

So why would they treat me with respect?
When I didn’t respect my self?
When in heat they saw me as someone who could help.
And I did!

The relatable part is,
I was just a kid.
And I mean that’s what everyone did?
Right!?

Find that one person to lay with at night,
link up with him for a moment just to get him right.

Every boy and man showed me exactly how they felt about me.
I had to forgive myself time and time again for being so naive.

But now my body is a temple.
Used for Christ alone.
Holiness, purity and sanctification.
Breaking all ties that had a hold on my soul.

Christ changed me,
So now any man who pursues me
Will experience the, changed me.

My body is a temple
Not for anyone to have their fair share.
A committed partner may take a bit longer
But heck, I don’t care. 🤷🏽‍♀️

I no longer hate being pretty.
Ive gone from “many men” to seeing my beauty within.
So regardless of how long it takes,
a win is a win!

For me, losing hope felt like…

Sadness, sorrow, the inability to see the possibility of change, because my attention was focused on the things I lacked. Trying not to feel sad, so running to my vice of choice instead- a miserable cycle.

It took a close friend to remind me where to turn my hope back to! That hope is found in Jesus; the Word is filled with promises that will lift your spirit when hope feels lost.

Hope found me in the Word, prayer, and community. And if it found me, it can surely find you! Turn your eyes to God, where hope is!

Navigating C-PTSD can be complex at times, specifically when you experience something in your day, and your nervous system doesn’t know YOU’RE NOT THERE.

In those moments, I have to:

• First, notice how tight my chest is and how my breathing has changed.

• Inhale for 4 seconds, exhale for 4 seconds. The nervous system is usually much calmer by the second breath.

• Verbally tell myself “Rasheeda, you’re okay, and you are safe. This isn’t the same person, place or situation; you’re okay”

The brain doesn’t know we aren’t experiencing the very thing that planted the trauma seed! The enemy wants you to believe that the trauma is present and TRUE!

Allow me to remind you, you have the authority of Christ, and a flashback is nothing compared to the everlasting power we have through Christ Jesus.

Overcoming Alcoholism!
The importance of community!

I was drinking before 9:00am.
I was drinking whenever I didn’t want to feel.
I was drinking when I was stressed from work.
I was drinking when the memory was too painful.
I was over drinking when I went out, and often made a fool of myself.
I was drinking until I blacked out, and told the story as a good time, as If I wasn’t suffering on the inside.
I was drinking so much I couldn’t sleep
I was drinking so much I’d spend my last just to get a buzz.

Jesus Christ spared my life from asphyxiation!
Community has helped heal me!
No judgement just love!
Real because they had to be!
Healthy Community is a MUST!
Friends, health professionals and colleagues!

Thank you Jesus for saving me!

I was 11 when I discovered this truth, which started a huge identity crisis. My mother didn’t plan on keeping this secret, she just didn’t live to see that day to tell me unfortunately .

Well now I’m choosing to share that story! The mental weight that came with the journey was so heavy at times, but Christ got me through every moment!

I honestly believe that there are MANY stories like my own, many stories of how God saved your life too!

I’ve learned some hard lessons, gained wisdom, cried a ton. I’ve gotten angry, set boundaries, prayed until my knees hurt!

I know why God allowed my life to go this way, although it doesn’t always feel good! The story continues and I’m just a vessel communicating for Gods glory!

Many Men Pt. 1

Sometimes I hated being pretty,
only because I had an ugly past
that didn’t allow me to see my beauty within
I only saw myself for what I could offer to men.

And when asked to engage
I’d easily give my consent
Permission to the parts of me
That I hated the most

“ Many men, many many many men
Wan-ted sex from me”
I don’t say that with a badge of honor
Or say it like it’s cute

But for a long time my self respect wasn’t existent
And That’s all that I knew

Give him your body and he’ll rock with you
Love you
Care for you
Want you for you

But it was until the day long after I stopped given it up so freely
A rude human being yelled out
I’m tryna see what that (gasp) do

In shock I asked him to repeat what he said
Just to make sure I heard him correctly
And I heard him very clearly
He was speaking to me subjectively

I snapped back “never my guy, stop playing with me”
He said “man whatever, I know how you used to be”

Yeah I used to be
Used to the boys using me
Seducing me

I gave them that perspective though
I would walk around
With pride of being a oooohhh!

So why would they treat me with respect
When I didn’t respect my self
When in heat they saw me as someone who could help.
And I did….
