2026 Best Cine Leo for @walkandtalkfilm

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

A week ago I won a Leo Award for Best Cinematography in the Youth & Children’s Program category for my work on @walkandtalkfilm

I’ve been so overwhelmed with all the lovely messages I’ve received from everyone.

Thank you so much to the @leoawardsbc for this honour, @inannaink for trusting me to shoot this film, and my cine team @jonathangogoi @jasminehans0 @lucasrojen @raylngladue @ryanjduckworth .

I hope to see more brown and black femmes working as film technicians, shooting on analog film, and doing badass things like winning cinematography awards! Yay

Hair Braiding — An Analog Cinemagraph.

This project’s goal was to explore how to make a cinemagraph using minimal digital technology. It was shot on 16mm film, developed and spliced by hand.

I wanted to challenge the assumption that innovation in contemporary video art is confined to digital mediums, and emphasize that we can get creative with existing technology to make new images. @Cinevolution seemed to like this idea and generously funded this project.

Hair Braiding is having its gallery premiere today at the Eastside @culturecrawl ‘s Moving Art programme.

It will be playing at @Lumiereyvr from Nov 13th-16th at the South Plaza of @vanartgallery, 5-9pm.

AND at the @littlefreecinema from Nov 16-23 at 1601 Venables St, 24/7.

Thank you to everyone who made this project possible.

Our 16mm film Glitter Loop has been selected by the Mount Pleasant Community Art Screen to play on one of the city’s very few billboards!
😚✨
It will be on display for a whole year alongside a bunch of other films at Kingsway & E Broadway intersection.
This is a super imposter syndrome moment for me because I’ve always wanted to make public art. 😍
Link to the screening schedule can be found in @mpcas.vancouver bio. Thank you @gruntgallery for this opportunity and @filmhouse.world for the beautiful scan! taken in Kingsway And Broadway by @rashi.gram

The dream came true❣️-- being featured at our favourite shorts program at @queerfilmfest with other queer B.C. local filmmakers!

奶黃包 Egg Yolk Custard Bun is a short film centering queer Asian kinksters, the sensation around dimsum 早茶點心, and "Vancouver"'s historic Chinatown that keeps immigrants' food memories alive.

P.S. To fully enjoy this food play, an aftercare session of sharing dimsum at Pink Pearl restaurant 珠城大酒樓 and Sun Fresh bakery 新發餅屋 is required 😚😚

Hello friends!

I have an exhibit coming up at @thejamesblackgallery as part of @capturephotofest 2026. And would like to invite you all to attend my opening reception on March 27th at 6:30PM

Between Stillness & Motion presents two 16mm cinemagraphs— shot, developed and printed entirely through analog processes. This material engagement favours tactility and process, emphasizing the labor involved in both image-making and the never-ending sensations pictured in the two scenes. The looping nature of the cinemagraphs dismantles the notion of a decisive moment, inviting viewers to linger within repetition and drift. Meditating on the quiet tension of being held in place.

Location:
James Black Gallery
144 E 6TH AVE,
VANCOUVER, BC.
V5T 1J5

Opening on 27th March at 6:30PM

Otherwise it is showing until April 10th. Gallery hours are 2-6pm

Hope to see you there 🤗

Starring @hiba.us and @icy.gaze

Special thanks to @cinevolution @hantopiaaa @inannaink @cineworksvan for all the support in making this happen!
