As soon as people started realizing I could sing,
they started calling me Jill Scott. 💕

So you know I had to cover a classic.

Backstage with the Motown Christmas cast, singing BGVs on “Tears of a Clown.”

Black music. Live vocals. Theatre joy.

The behind-the-scenes moments always hit different.

I’ve been meaning to get back to jazz for a while, here’s my most recent attempt. I’m loving my journey of learning to trust my instincts as a singer. Just thought I’d share, I hope y’all are warm and safe 🫶🏾 #jazz #singerlife #practicemakesperfect #behindthescenes by @ratedraven

33 gave me some really beautiful nights, new people, good music and moments I didn’t know I needed until I was in them.

34 is loading, and I’m taking my new found freedom with me.

Now @cookingwpapi my birthday is next week. The 13th to be exact. I feel like brining back @darielamant is a reasonable gift 🤷🏾‍♀️😂. by @ratedraven

Three nights. Three spaces. One incredible weekend. ✨

@darielamant, you did your BIG one.

From Fat Charlie’s, to Rumba Room, to closing it all out at CxffeeBlack — getting to watch this residency transform from night to night was something special.

Different rooms. Different crowds. Different energy. But the same thing at the center of all three: music, culture and community.

There is something really beautiful happening in Memphis right now. People are creating the spaces they want to see. Artists are collaborating. Cultures are meeting each other. Folks are coming outside and actually EXPERIENCING their city.

That’s what @latinsoulseries has felt like to me from La Bamba to now.

And Dariel? Watching three nights be built around your artistry and seeing you command each one differently was a TREAT. You sang, you danced, you gave us a SHOW — and apparently somewhere in there you had time for a lil two step with me too. 😂

And to my girl @madamechenay — thank you for the invitation, friend. 🥹 You already know how proud I am of you, but getting to watch you continue putting pieces together behind the scenes and then seeing the finished product come to life? Chef’s kiss. 🤌🏽

Congratulations to everybody who had a hand in making this residency happen.

We danced. We ate. We sang. We sweated. 😂

And most importantly…

we had a timmeeeee. 💃🏽 by @ratedraven

I hope you dance. ✨

DANCE.

Somewhere in the middle of three nights of @latinsoulseries, me & the man of the hour @darielamant found ourselves doing exactly that. 😂

Because sometimes the recap is simply: we had a timmeeeee. 💃🏽

And baby did we 💕 by @ratedraven

From the minds that brought you La Bamba… y’all didn’t think they were done, did you?! 👀

If you saw my post from La Bamba, then you already know how I feel about what @latinsoulseries is creating in Memphis. The culture. The music. The FOOD. The people. The intention behind it all. THAT is what made me fall in love with the experience in the first place.

Wellllll, this weekend we’re running it back — but this time for LATIN SOUL SESSIONS. 🎶✨

Three nights. Three different experiences. And a voice that embodies the soul of Memphis, @darielamant , featuring Keri Lee.

Thursday: Fat Charlie’s Speakeasy
Friday: Rumba Room
Saturday: CxffeeBlack

And baby, I plan on being OUTSIDE. 😂

Come experience this one with me. Tickets are on sale now, and when you grab yours, use promo code RAVEN. 🖤

See y’all at the Sessions. 💃🏽✨ by @ratedraven

“Community” gets thrown around a lot, but yesterday actually WAS community.

Huge congratulations to @cookingwpapi and @madamechenay for bringing Latin Soul: La Bamba to life. From the chrome to the music, the food, the art, and the people… every detail felt intentional.

@madamechenay , watching you execute a vision behind the scenes and make all the puzzle pieces fit was so inspiring. So proud of you, friend. ❤️

Thank you for having me. We had a timmeeeee! by @ratedraven

Question — Favorite Supremes song in the show 🎶

During Motown Christmas, we were asked our favorite The Supremes song to perform — and this one had me every night.

Motown music just hits different live. #musicaltheatre #broadway #behindthescenes #theatre by @ratedraven
