Using my handspun, “…what am I waiting for?”
I needed a freestyle knit. So, I cast on🤷🏽‍♀️ scroll to see the cake.

My peeps, Fall is not an easy time of year for me, so this year it’s coming in hard. Thoughts and Prayers are welcome.

Fabulous Finish. 🌱 My pressed flowers shawl is off the needles and blocking. Can I just say, I have never made so many mistakes and now it’s a choice, I can be a fault finder in myself or I can say, “Way to go old gal, way to press on”.
This project jumped onto my needles on a quiet afternoon when I was helping a friend. It wasn’t in my plans and this yarn was just on the top of the shelf. It has become a gem in my making. The blue flowers remind me of forget-me-nots. I knit this while I could barely speak, hardly breathing. To be transparent, I barely remember much of my quiet time trying to hold on. This shawl is survival at its best.

I didn’t have the recommended yarn needed for the full shawl so I didn’t do the boarder and finished with a modified I-cord bind off. Modification was stacking it on a garter stitch row and knitting two together in the front. I love the outcome. My mind has to find a place to play and so it has.

An Early Summer Adventure: 5/29-6/7/2026.
Grocery Girls Alaska Cruise…but why have I waited so long to post? Here’s the story.
We booked this trip long in advance and had no idea the hands of time would rock our world. Our daughter passed suddenly the end of February and with a heavy heart and shook to the core we packed our bags. Canceling would change nothing. Time away, surrounded by the ocean and anonymity, we walked into a bubble. Only one person on the ship knew of our loss and somehow that gave us the shelter to be a knitter and her husband, not the grieving parents. I found my breath in Alaska and the ship rocked me to sleep. I put my phone away and focused on the moments and the people. Jeff watched color return to my face and my normal appetite on full display. We were walking out the steps of living after great loss and it felt right. I also hoped I had turned a corner and I would be better when I returned home. 💔 Truth is, I had not even begun to grieve.
Now to this post, in reflection, two things can be true at the same time. I can be sad and happy, ravished and generous, angry and yet full of love. Enjoying the cruise felt like a guilty pleasure and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
Many thanks to: @grocerygirlsknit @dreareneeknits and @kateburge you were good medicine. Kate, I can’t believe we didn’t get a picture. Dinner at your table was a highlight
