Bloody Odyssey pt. 2: my car is designed to go up and down everything. It did an amazing job getting us up the worst road I’ve maybe ever driven on. Sadly, the tires that come with my car were not meant to handle the rigors of a mountain road that has probably not seen a bulldozer for at least 20 years. I thought my tires were just a couple months old, so we would be fine. WRONG.
We started heading downhill in rock crawl mode, got about 100 feet, and then heard the sound of air escaping from one of my tires. My side wall had just been scratched, and was leaking. I knew there was some type of tire repair kit that I had never had to use in the year and a half that I have owned this car, but didn’t realize it was not made for this situation, and there was no spare. We were 3 miles up a road that we certainly could not be towed down. I was recommended to call @rauhpower and his Off-road Recovery Service in Mammoth, @rauhsreliabletowingservices . Not only did Teddy know this road well, he had just been up it a couple weeks prior, and was tight with @bernierosow , the friend who had just passed on the mountain. He asked me for my tire size, and within half an hour, he called me back and had found a tire. Sadly, it was down in Bishop, and the store was closing. However, he was able to drive his monster tow truck up to my location, remove the wheel with the damaged tire, and give me a ride to Mammoth, where I would wait until the next morning, until he could go to Bishop, get the tire, put it on the wheel, and head back up bloody Mountain.
Now this is a treacherous and narrow road, and to watch the skill of this man turn the truck around, and then navigate the road half a mile backwards up to my car, was like watching Picasso paint.
We asked Bernie’s spirit to give us a hand and some luck in me getting down without puncturing another tire. Miracle of miracles, we made it. I am so grateful to my new friends, Teddy, for having the knowledge and the skill to rescue me. If you are ever in a jam here, make sure you reach out to Mammoth Lakes Services Rauh’s Reliable Towing.
So glad to have accomplished the objective and get back safely! #offroadrecovery by @rauhpower

A Day for @bernierosow got pretty close before weather came in !! It’s Gods Country up there very special place !! And it’s never a dull moment when your on the mission, love you Brother, I’ll never forget the times we had and I will certainly keep em going for all the ones who made the trip home !!❤️❤️ by @rauhpower

Bernie was my Ride or Die go to, he was talented at everything he did, we lived at the @jlaskatepark this summer like many others who live in Mammoth and love skating!! Power hour so many days of amazing sessions,BBQ,friends, talks etc! Been a hard couple of days for me and so many others who new him his energy was infectious and attitude towards life was get it while we’re here !! I’ve never meet anyone who got after it more than Bernie he was the real deal, from Skating , to Biking, to hiking the backcountry, making it out of the Mtns literally right before he had to Jump in his snowcat and run swing shift till midnight!! He’d be planning to do it all again the next Day !! He was a warrior and a true friend!! An amazing Father, partner and all around guy, he loved his son Alex and Amber! If he wasn’t getting super gnarly in the backcountry he be with Alex teaching him life and showing him how to live and showing him how to learn about life and the tools to know how to go threw the ups and downs. He was always supported me when I had tough times and never passed judgment on me or others no matter what I was going through. He will truly be missed and remembered forever, life is so precious. And you just never know when your time is up on this earth it’s short! Tell your loved ones you love them help someone out for no reason with out any reason at all!! Get off the couch and get out there !! Life is a wild ride lots of loved ones have gone to the other side this year with no warning of death , for us who are still living this is a lesson to do what you wanna do take the bull by the horns. Dare to be different we never know the future all we have is today! And Bernie showed us all to use the time we have today not tomorrow to live love and be in the moment! Thanks to all my friends who have reached out to me through this tough time! This has taught me that even the strongest of people you think you will grow old with is not promised Take the time to act now show love to everyone !! I’ll always remember this because we truly are here for a short time not a long time !! Make it a good time ! ❤️❤️❤️ by @rauhpower
