Apparently disability is my whole personality… 😂

The truth is, I still struggle with my health every single day. There are times when going out, dancing and doing the things I love comes with a pretty hefty price afterwards.

But I’ve also learnt something the hard way: joy matters too.

For years, I felt like being chronically ill meant I wasn’t really allowed to enjoy myself. Like if I was sick, I should look sick, stay home and somehow prove just how unwell I was.

Now I understand that pleasure, connection, music, laughter and experiences that make me feel alive are important to my wellbeing too. ❤️

So yes, I’m disabled. Yes, I’m chronically ill. And yes, sometimes I pay for the privilege of a night out.

But I’d rather have a life that contains some incredible moments alongside the difficult ones than spend my whole life waiting to be “well enough” to live it.

Disability is part of my story. It just isn’t the whole story. ♿️🖤

Who said disability doesn’t come with a few perks? 😂♿️

Raving as a wheelchair user with a urostomy definitely has its challenges… but I’ve also discovered a few unexpected advantages. 😂

Built-in seating ✅
No sitting on disgusting festival toilets ✅
Best parking spots ✅

It’s all about finding the ways you can still enjoy the things you love. 🖤♿️🕺

Disabled toilets aren’t a convenience or a shortcut. ♿️

Not every disability is visible, and for some people — including those with stomas, bladder or bowel conditions, or incontinence — having access to a suitable toilet, often with a shorter wait, can be essential.

When a disabled toilet is being used by someone who doesn’t need it, someone who does may be left waiting — and for some people, that wait could mean an accident.

The fear of that happening can be enough to stop someone feeling able to go to a rave or festival at all.

We want to rave. We want to dance. We want to be part of the crowd. 🪩

So please, if you don’t need an accessible toilet, leave it available for someone who does. 💜

Accessibility isn’t a luxury. It’s what helps make going out possible.
